To get past the initial screen brightness calibration:
-Launch the game.
-Place mouse cursor at the bottom of your monitor slightly right of center where the accept/ continue button appears during calibration AND LEAVE IT THERE.
-Once you are asked to adjust the sliders just left click twice and you'll get to the main menu (you cant move your mouse even if you try). May need to restart a couple times to get mouse placement just right.
-Once you get to the main menu you're home free!

Can only choose native resolution for windowed/ fullscreen modes.
Will not run with any version of proton as of May 2023, but native version runs fine.
