Great game, plays well docked to a 50 inch TV with a PS4 controller, however requires some tinkering
Resolution was way off, and it was blurry (on a 50 inch TV docked)
Tinkering
Gamepad
- The default PS4 gamepad had intense gyro on, so I had to swap to the top PS4 community layout, which worked perfectly.
Display (50 inch TV docked)
I had to:
- set the games resolution to Native from the SD home screen
- Update the resolution in the game to be 1080p as it had borders before hand.
- Update aspect ratio to 16:9
Getting close to 60 FPS solid enough.
I couldn't enter a name for my character on the character selection screen
Not being able launch the on screen keyboard blocked me from starting the game.
The reason for the issue is that the keyboard would not launch (either on click of the input box, or on manually launch of the keyboard using the hot keys).
This games plays perfectly on Linux. On the Steam Deck you can reduce the settings from High to Medium in order to get stable 45 FPS.
You must log into EA the very first time you launch the game, you can use the on screen keyboard for this.
FPS ranged from 15 to 60 during cut scenes, and 25 to 60 during game play on default graphics settings (which is everything on high).
Can launch the game using two PS4 controllers, and the Steam Deck dock plugged into a 50 inch TV. No issues.
Jumpy FPS
The FPS jumps a bit between 25 and 60 FPS, during the cut scenes it occasionally dropped to 15 FPS (when the book guy teleports into the scene for example).
I’m getting a solid 45 FPS with the following:
- Display settings: All settings down to medium (from high)
- SD perf settings: Turning off FSR (it’s off by default)
- Camera settings:
- Resolution: fullscreen 1280x800
- Anti-aliasing: down 1 to FXAA
- Reduced “Chase Camera Assistance” to “weak”
I could probably bump up the settings to high and reduce the FPS to 30, but the 45 FPS feels nice and smooth.
Works flawlessy
Perfect
Buttery smooth, 60 FPS, good green ping when on WIFI. Plays similar to the PS4, way better than playing on the Nintendo Switch (which has low FPS which was awful)
Works flawlessly
Exact same as playing on the PS4, no issues whatsoever.
