Aside from the lack of movies. Bokuten is fully playable on the steam deck.
set the L4 button to act as the Ctrl key
fullscreen isn't set by default i didn't notice until i paused the game
none of the videos would play
i used both Proton 7.0.4 and Proton GE 7-30 result was the same i also installed video codecs and lavfilter with protontricks still no movies
basically everything works the steam deck besides 1 non-gamebreaking problem
the only issue i came across was the default controller mapping made the gameplay difficult so i would suggest editing the controller mapping for this game outside of that the game plays perfectly even when using the r18 patch on it and the movies work too
due to inconsistent performance between desktop & gaming mode i can't recommend g senjou no maou
i managed to get the OP movie working by installing the quartz.dll with protontricks and running this script with mf-install
WINEPREFIX="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/377670/pfx" PROTON="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/GE-Proton7-30/" ./mf-install.sh -proton
while g senjou no maou worked great on desktop mode for whatever reason when playing in gaming mode the Framerate takes a nosedive its horrible
this is such a damn shame becaause saving, loading, fullsceen mode, and with some tinkering i managed to get the OP movie woking too but with the issue of inconsistent performance between desktop & gaming mode i'd just run it on a windows dual-boot instead
Nearly everything worked out of the box. in fact, I'm surprised it's "Unsupported" it should be marked "Playable" at least.
WINE_DO_NOT_CREATE_DXGI_DEVICE_MANAGER=1 %command%
while the game did work @ 1280x800 The image was cut off around the edges.
So i had to force it to run @ a 16:9 resolution.
Under properties then it displayed correctly.
i.e. 720p or 1080p.
Sometimes but Very Very rarely it would crash at startup.
I mean it only happened to me about 3 times
Aside from the very rare crashes.
everything will work on the steam deck once you
Use the mentioned launch option.
Force it to run @ a 16:9 resolution.
Hit the "Set resolution for internal & external display" box under properties.
P.S. The version of proton used was 7.0.4
HOST_LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 %command%
firstly do not attempt to run this with the locale emulator it will crash
so you need to add the JP locale to your steam deck
Here's how to do it
setup a SU password under the user settings in desktop mode
download and run this script https://gist.github.com/XargonWan/cc660daf92c224b7241cbf5a2bf12c47 this will automatically enable the JP locale
restart your deck
this was by far the weirdest thing the audio was muted by default
so i had to unmute it in desktop mode
the FPS would sometimes slowdown really bad
but I think FPS counter have trouble latching onto this game
since I couldn't get any FPS counter to work on Windows either
thankfully all this only needs to be done once
after that just add "HOST_LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 %command%"
to the launch option under properties
for any VN that needs the JP locale
the only issue i found was that if you play a movie
this VN will hard crash
and i've tried everything
mf-install, protontrick to install codecs, and changing to proton ge.
so the only way to play this VN on Steam deck
is to delete the video folder in the install directory
the only movie is the opening movie so your not missing much
