Use windowed full-screen. Otherwise the game will crash when you alt-tab, even when loading!
Only Proton 6.3-8 works!! That is what the developers also have on their discord server. I couldn't try out multiplayer, because it's an open beta and only the shooting range is available right now. The next play test is on 08-10.04.2022. Mark the date! I will update my report after that.
Everything worked fine out of the box.
Microphone won't work
Devs just announced yesterday (04.03.2025), that the EAC problem has been resolved for Linux and seem to be very open in der communication (see Daniel's report 3 posts down).
All in all quite fun game, have to bring some friends over
Feral's gamemode (https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode) as someone suggested below me. Be for there where frame drops from 60 to 30 or constant 30 fps, wich "slowed time down", getting worse with many particles and the deeper you went down on the map. The game runs fluent now ... I think I'm in heaven. Install gamemode and set 'gamemoderun %command%' to the launch options
