Game refuses to launch due to CEG. However, use of a custom client (I tested BGamer T5) the game will launch via Steam Play/Proton.
Performance wise - game performs just as it did on my Windows 7 machine, was able to play a full game of Zombies on Der Riese without issue. D9VK recommended as using OpenGL will result in some depth of field bugs, although the console command/cvar r_dof_enable 0
will address said issue as well.
Was unable to test MP as the client used is specifically for LAN and I do not have more than one machine in my house with Black Ops.
Game will run, but no Window will appear. Allocates needed RAM but CPU usage stays at 0%.
This also applies to the Singleplayer executable.
Game is very playable but the need for command line arguments and the stutters limits it's Linux audience.
D9VK boosted framerate by 20+ FPS, Large Address Awareness was required in order to use D9VK, as without it WaW would crash during map load.
On loading new areas, game would stutter for half a second. This does not apply to intense situations, strictly new area load.
Was able to make it through the main menu before crash. Selecting game results in a crash, with a log dump.
Aside from possible lack of AA, works perfectly.
Possible anti-alias issues? Game looks 'retro-y' and sharp.
Works Flawlessly in Windowed Mode.
Black Screen when Fullscreen, used Alt+Enter to enter Windowed mode. No issues in Windowed.
Game runs fine, encountered controller issue was most likely due to use of DS3. Audio is easily fixed. The rest runs OotB just like Windows.
E-Sync results in Audio Loop ~5s in duration.
Audio Loop with E-Sync enabled
Game could not automatically detect/bind controls for my DualShock 3, had to manually define them after enabling gamepad in Steam's Big Picture Mode. Gamepad works fine without BPM after initial issue was resolved.
Game runs fine aside from the absurd CPU usage. Fan kicks up while playing.
Using 25% of the CPU without 3D acceleration on, 17% with it off.
Using a Steam Deck in Desktop mode, as a workstation.
Seemingly perfect, minor performance decrease with "Visual Effects" enabled.
Minor slowdown with "Visual Effects" enabled, performance decreased no more/no less than Windows installation.
"Visual Effects" slowdown more than likely due to low-end GPU.
