Works out of the box with Proton-6.21-GE-1; the very, very occasional stutter generally when transitioning from one scene to another. Otherwise a great experience.
Couldn't play the native version on Pop OS 19.10; it seems to crash immediately without getting as far as trying to load the game.
Was able to play when forcing the game to use ProtonDB 4.11-11 though :)
Occasional stuttering, particularly during the initial cutscenes within the game. A fairly positive experience though, didn't have continual stuttering when eating other creatures, as previous poster have experienced.
Out of the box with Proton 6.20-GE-1
Had to use current Proton Experimental (as of 6th Dec 2021)
Using Proton-6.20-GE-1, the game wouldn't start and just let with a Steam client WINE window - from what previous posters have said, that might be the old DRM?
Forcing the game to use Proton Experimental (the version as of 6th Dec 2021) works fine - game loads up, sound from all characters etc seems to work fine. The very occasional stutter but all in all, really good experience. I played up until the end of the first restaurant scene.
Doesn't run on 6.21-GE-1, but does on 6.3-7
With Proton 6.21-GE-1, the game launcher starts and as it was the first run on a new install, displayed the Digital Extremes licence agreement. After accepting that, the launcher crashed. I was able to complete a bug report and send it to DE via their own error reporting tool.
Forcing the game to Proton 6.3-7 appears to work, however the game launcher is very slow when checking for updates/trimming the game cache.
