Initially, the left mouse button wasn't being recognized. While troubleshooting, after disconnecting my gamepad the left mouse button began to work again. Disabling Steam Input for the title has the same effect and allows mouse button to work also.
Worked out of the box
Game installs and plays perfectly fine with Proton 8.0-2.

I had bad preview videos with every version except experimental, either right at the beginning or after a bit of play time.
Generating shaders causes obvious bogging, after though, smooth play
This is for Epic version.
Through Lutris, installed Epic Launcher > Installed SW BF2, which installs EA Launcher ( no feedback, seemed stalled, waited a bit before relaunching ) > EA Launcher launched and installed game, ran game.
Played great out of the box.
MS Arial font was required for missing text on buttons in GUI
