I have no Idea why this is marked as unsupported, because it runs perfectly on the SD out of the box.
Lowered graphical settings from within the game's menu. By default it was set on a higher than native resolution, I set it to 1280x800; I disabled realtime effects, kept antialiasing, now it runs in 40fps with few drops, although it gets really hot after a while. It is not a well optimized game, the performance issues are present on my desktop Windows PC as well.
Some text like hints is really small, and the font only makes it harder to read.
Rare FPS drops from 40 to low 30s, nothing significant.
Using default Proton I got the viewport error; switched to an older (6 something) version I was able to run it but laps time/position/distance to next racer would not show, so the game wasn't playable. After switching to Proton 3.7.8 the game ran as expected.
Using community layout "Re-volt ready" I was able to navigate the menu (not working using default layout). This layout works fine but it's a keyboard-based layout so it doesn't have fine steering as you would with an analog stick. Not a big issue, game is arcadey enough to be enjoyable this way.
Before forcing Proton version to 7.0-3 only the audio would play, afterwards it ran great. It's definitely not a game designed with controllers in mind, but it runs good, especially using one of the community layouts that uses the right trackpad and gyro.
