I usually disable the trackpads and back grip buttons on the Steam Deck but strangely, the game only works with the official layout from FromSoftware, not the Gamepad one from Steam so I had to manually disable the buttons myself.
All in-game settings set to Low at 1280x800, enabled tearing, TDP limit to 8-10W, and GPU clock frequency to 1000
Some in-game text is very small and difficult to read, especially when the game is set to a lower resolution.
When exiting, the game will "close" but remain on a black screen with the Steam input prompts at the bottom of the screen for almost a minute or more then lead to the game screen where Steam will sync your save files to the cloud.
Recommended to limit TDP and GPU clock frequency as the Steam Deck fan will continuously run and heat up the device - you'll get at most 3-ish hours when you limit the power.
Limiting power usage, setting all in-game graphical settings to low with FSR2, and FPS at 30, you can get a few hours on the Steam Desk.
Setting the TDP limit to between 7-10W, GPU clock frequency between 800-1000, framerate at 30 FPS, and enabling the tearing and half-rate shading options allows the Steam Deck to last up to 3 hours when the battery percentage is around 90-95%.
BG3 syncs autosaves and quicksaves to the Steam Cloud so it can take a while for Steam to sync the files.
Framerate will dip in busier areas (eg: lots of NPCs, foliage, items, effects, etc.).
The games run perfectly on the Steam Deck right out of the box with very little tinkering required
CPU TDP <7 W and GPU Frequency <700 MHz
CPU TDP: 7-9W / GPU Clock Speed Frequency: 700-900MHz
For the most part, the game runs flawlessly on Linux. The only exception that I would consider are the controls, mainly due to the game's 6DOF mechanics. However, there are variable auto-level settings so you do not have to worry about rolling.
You can get about 5-6 hours of playtime if you limit the TDP and GPU clock frequency on 60 FPS, but there are some framerate dips due to heavy effects like in-game explosions, weapon particles, debris, etc.
To unbind control mappings, you want to "rebind" an action then press the Start button to unbind its current setting.
Setting TDP and GPU clock frequency under 10W and 1000 with tearing and half-rate shading at 30 FPS can net you close to 4-5 hours, even with in-game graphics set to Medium. If the FPS is set to 60, you may get around 2-3 hours, maybe close to 4.
30 FPS | Allow Tearing | TDP limit 7-10W | GPU clock freq. 800-1000
Text is a little small
Despite being Verified and the in-game resolution setting even displaying 1280x800 and 16:10, the game does not fill the entire Steam Deck screen
