Some minor graphic glitches, two error messages at start (system reqirements, no amd driver, just close them) the game works well without any further tuning. I have to check if the multiplayer works also.
After the last update: game crashes while loading into the game
I played the game flawless (with some minor graphic glitches) for about 12 h on Steam with Proton experimental. After the last update the game loads into the start screen, but keeps crashing while loading the park. I tried different Proton and Proton-GE versions but the crashing persists. I tried it on another PC (Linux Mint 21) there the game won't load even into the Start screen. I am a little disappointed. But until a new update or some start parameters will do the trick, the game remains unplayable (for me at least).
Previous report: "Works well out of the box - Some minor graphic glitches, two error messages at start (system reqirements, no amd driver, just close them) the game works well without any further tuning. I have to check if the multiplayer works also."
After signing up with Apex Connect the game crashes afterwards while loading the map. I had to disconnect and delete my account connection.
Some weeks ago the game could be played with no problems, after an update i had crashes while loading the map, after disconnecting from Apex Connect and deleting my account connection the game runs again with some minor graphic artifacts. I tried to install it on another PC and can't get into the game (the game closes and a window with "Crash report" appears). Haven't tried it further. It seems like you just have to have luck with your setup.
It is a little bit of work to get the EAC to work. After that everything works like a charm.
PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME
- Copy the EasyAntiCheat folder to DeadByDaylight/Binaries/EGS/
- Download Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime on STEAM
- Copy the "Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime" folder to any directory and remove the spaces in the folder name
- In Heroic: Set Wine version to Proton-GE-Proton7-41
- In Heroic: EasyAntiCheat Runtime is UNCHECKED
- In Heroic: Environment Variable: Name: PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME Value: PATH/TO/STEAM/ProtonEasyAntiCheatRuntime
At first my controller was not detected in Heroic alone. In Heroic->DBD->Tools I created a shortcut in steam and started it there. Steam took control over the controller and the controller was recognized in DBD.
I can confirm: with the Epic version, played with Heroic game launcher and the tinkering steps, DBD runs smoothly, even with Linux Mint. I followed the steps mentioned in: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3266252/#Comment_3266252
Steam and Heroic Game Launcher
- Tinker Steps for Heroic:

- Tinker Steps for Steam: After I played it on Heroic, I tried the steps on my Steam-Version also.
- I downloaded EasyAntiCheat Runtime in Steam
- I copied the EasyAntiCheat folder from the DBD folder to Binaries/Win64,
- I set the launch option: PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME=PATH/TO/STEAM/ProtonEasyAntiCheatRuntime (from the Heroic install)
- I forced Proton Experimental
And I started it on Steam without any issues. I played several survivor rounds. After that I deleted the launch options and the copied folder in Win64 and could play as well. So maybe the tinker steps aren't necessary and it just works in Steam for now.
I had no problems at all. Install and run with Proton experimental. Switched Sound/Micro to Unity. I didn't recognice any issues. I tried Multiplayer (with other players on Win) and all of them could join my lobby and play as expected.
