Doesn't run out of the box and takes many mods and customizations to make it run decently.
So, what I did to get this to work was run was to install 32-bit dxvk thorugh WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/211420/pfx setup_dxvk install because otherwise wine couldn't load libvulkan.so.1
Also DSFix and DSMousefix were installed.
Minor input lag, makes a difference in a game like this. Controller not tested. Also installed the mousefix mod along with dsfix which made the controls actually playable, but thats also a problem on windows.
Small lag spikes when changing areas and lighting bonfires. Controller not tested
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" WINEFSYNC=1 %command%
these are the launch options I ended up with. changed internal resolution with DSFix, hid mouse cursor with DSFix. to get DSMousefix to work you need to set mouse_ui=0 in dsmousefix.ini
It just works now, no more anticheat gatekeeping.
Some stuttering
PIPEWIRE_LATENCY="512/48000" %command%
The game will still take mouse input even if its not on focus.
I had some issues related to my setup because I changed pipwire systemwide to use low latency. This causes some serious stuttering issues in the game so I set PIPEWIRE_LATENCY="512/48000". Proton GE and experimental currently have stutters too. so for me the only combination that worked was Proton 8 stable with that latency.
Game is officially supported now and has steam deck controller support.
the game is playable without any extra tweaks
Mouse flickering and some effects rendering above the foreground (through walls)
Hold esc before starting a new game to skip cutscene, it doesnt start unless you do it.
Ok so you need to hold esc to skip the cutscene at the start as it will not play on Proton
Ran out of the box
Created a red-black flashing border on either side, probably caused by i3wm because the aspect ratio of the game is not quite 16:9
Runs with decent performance out of the box
going below 80 sometimes, not a huge deal
sometimes dipping from 165fps (my monitor's refresh rate) to 80 but otherwise completely playable with no other issues
Worked out of the box on my setup, on another rig I got it to work with wined3d11 enabled
Game ran well except for occasionally small freezes when opening trade menus
