With good hardware this is definitely playable, but don't expect anything better than medium settings out of mid-range or lower hardware.
Anything above medium is unplayable
Sometimes crashes on vehicle/lights selection screens
Proton runs better than native!
Unable to Alt-Tab out of both exclusive and borderless fullscreen modes.
Native refuses to launch so running it in Proton seems the only option for me, and it causes no issues whatsoever besides the aforementioned Alt-Tab bug.
Works with a few caveats
A noticeable performance drop from native, but workable.
Running the 32-bit version works but will run out of memory and crash on more complex routes, and the 64-bit version has occasional random crashes not related to out-of-memory errors.
Scenery will not load unless you use the aforementioned unzip command. This makes purchasing and installing new scenery somewhat of a pain because it requires you to go back and re-extract the archives, which may remove 3rd party mods.
