Tinker Steps:Switch to older version: 8.0-5
When first running the game it tries to install DirectX drivers. I tried playing with default proton (9.0-2) but got an error related to DirectX when the game started. Dropped down to proton 8.0-5, got a different error when running the DirectX install but game continued to load and ran fine afterwards

Game required a game controller, either wired or bluetooth. Without one the game freezes during loading

Game would freeze in full screen mode, had to run in windowed mode.
Performance:Slight Performance Problems

Using the default Proton version installed with Steam resulted in a blank screen when launching. Installed GE-Proton9-5 and worked fine

Its a while since I've played it, but I'd say the graphics and performance was better on Linux than Windows on exactly the same hardware
