This game was released for Linux originally. The dev has sine abandoned the Linux version. Players who had the game prior to the developer abandoning the Linux version were allowed to keep the game but it is locked on an EXTREMELY old version. This was never communicated directly to players but was posted and can be confirmed by contacting support. The Linux version is extremely buggy, missing many features, and will NEVER be updated.
The most recent DLC (released after the Linux version was abandoned) will also not work.
You are MUCH better off enabling proton on this game as many updates have come out for Windows version since and the new DLC will work if you choose to get it.
native Linux version locks up / crashes on launch on my system. Works with no issues using Proton
Linux version fails to launch (borked) playing native. Works great under Proton, no issues.
data is not shared. You must go in and copy the CaptainSpirit save folder and copy it over to the same spot in the other games folder.

is where the folders are
So for example my LiS2 Save folder is in:
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/532210/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Dontnod/76561198072921481
I don't have Captain Spirit installed but it would be about the same path but in a another folder in compatdata
When finished you will have the following: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/532210/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Dontnod/76561198072921481/LIS2
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/532210/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Dontnod/76561198072921481/CaptainSpirit
and that will remain even if you uninstall Captain Spirt. (But not if you remove LiS2)
But if you replay Captain Spirit, you must do this again.
Works on Proto 5.0-10. Fails on Porton 5.13-2
Have had a MUCH better experience using the Windows version of this game in Proton vs using than the native version. This has been due in large part to serious bugs that are fixed in the more current windows version. I recommend playing this game in Proton and to avoid the outdated and buggy native linux version for this game.
