There's only one other report on this game as I am writing this, and the problem they had is that they did not have Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead installed. Considering this mod is a mod of that game, you need the base game for this to work.
However, I installed Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, and resulted in a problem with BattleEye. BattleEye needs to be installed for this game to run, and after clicking install the game crashes.
Following other people's reports, here's how I got this game working on Ubuntu, terminal commands are in quotes:
- 'sudo apt install winetricks'.
- 'wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Sirmentio/protontricks/master/protontricks && chmod +x protontricks'.
- 'sudo mv protontricks /usr/bin/protontricks'.
- cd to game folder, usually under .steam/steam/steamapps/common/Combat\ Wings\ Battle\ of\ Britain.
- 'protontricks 34820 corefonts'.
Game was perfectly fine after this, originally it was giving a missing font error. Only issue after these fixes is that the intro screen is black but that is the only error I found.

Different issue than others, after I click play the launcher comes up and says that I need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. If you click cancel, game closes. If you click install, it will immediately say that it has been successfully installed and to restart the game. Upon restart it will say again that it needs to install it, so it gets stuck there.
As others have stated, disable full screen and enable windows mode in the .ini file and it worked great!
As with everyone else, game runs fine and works fine, but there is no sound anywhere. Nothing in the settings of the game either that helped
In launcher it defaulted to using OpenGL for rendering, and game worked perfectly.
Tried disabling esync and changing bloom as a previous user said, neither of these options worked. Game still booted to a black screen, although audio worked
