Oled. Capped 60hz with allow tearing on steam, Maxed graphics vsync off, fullscreen resolution ingame. Tested both (Proton 9.0-3) and (GE 9-15) on the sections which would drop heavily on switch version and it maintains 60fps throughout with every graphics options at the maximum except with vsync set to off.
40 fps frame cap
Playing boarderless window causes the game to stretch screen and somewhat overlap with the performance overlay
Launching the game through default valve proton with the new update causes blackscreen at launch, use proton 9.0.2
Stable 40hz throughout with graphics set to epic
Controls would stop working randomly needing to force close the game.
Certain dlc and basegame areas causes the frame to drop to 28 from 30 such as: / outside of raya lucaria north / loading spots in camps in the dlc "i.e near castle ensis grace, near black keep camp, camp with undead dragon fight" / whenever a furnace golem is active (furnace golem attacks causes massive framedrops to low 25s on deck which is also an issue on windows) / dragon breaths (specifically the flying side breath attack) and any particle effects like the plants.
Occasional crashing when using fast travel forcing a hard reboot on the deck. Unknown how to reproduce this or it's consistency as I've been able to play from start to finish + ranni questline without a single crash and sometimes 2 crashes within a span of an hour or two.
Default proton. Set frame cap to 30fps with allow tearing. Graphics options are:
- Fullscreen 1280x80
- Texture quality: medium
- AA quality : High (Bug where the game resets it to high whenever you restart giving you no option to change
- SSAO: medium
- Shadow: medium
- Lighting: medium
- Effects: low (might help with reducing fps drops during attacks, test this if you wish to set higher)
- Volumetric: medium
- Reflection: high
- Water surface: high
- Shader: medium
- Global Illumination: medium
- Grass: Medium
Fullscreen option in the menu is a blank and there's no way of telling if you swapped between windowed or FS
-Performance during the opening section is rough. The first cutscene drops the game to 10 fps due to rendering all the zombies.
-Framerate during the opening mission tanks to about 29ish at the lowest resolution on open areas with an average of somewhere around 40 fps during closed off sections. The GPU is maxed at around 99% hovering at around 1500mhz+ clock with no way to turn down graphics other than resolution.
-second mission can hit about 60 fps on the lowest possible resolution on the first area, didn't bother to go further.
Performance is very rough on steam deck oled, On the menus it's maxing out at 90 fps but as soon as you enter the game framerate is all over the place with no way to turn down any graphic settings other than resolution. The performance is similar in both GE and official valve proton. Experimental just causes the game to be stuck on a black screen at launch.
Played from start to finish on the most recent update. Original mode only.
Runs 60 on performance mode, drops on certain sections with lots of effects (Part in farm chapter with the explosive barrels, certain cutscenes, pacman level) though not to unplayable levels.
Oled. 60hz cap, allow tearing, vsync off ingame, performance mode in graphics option. Massive improvement compared to launch. Encountered a bug on a certain sidescroller section where failing a QTE makes juliette stuck, requiring to restart the level. Can be fixed with ingame auto-qte. No need for -dx11 launch command atleast on my end.
40hz frame cap medium settings
-Corridor leading to champion victor and near the door inside his arena has frame drops. This is very prevalent on 45 fps and slightly noticeable at 40. Lowering graphics did not help but setting custom gpu clock 1300-1400 seemed to alleviate it a bit.
-Setting high visibility tanks perfomance near the stargazer at ruined hotel krat. Drops from 40-30
Runs out of the box except the minor issues listed above. Slightly hard to read some enemies due to the small deck screen.
60fps ingame cap on oled deck
Text are quite small on the steam deck screen, no option to change size.
Resolution is set by default to 1920 x 1080 requiring to change it on the menu. Doesn't support 1280 x 800, only 1280 x 720
Touching steam deck screen would make the game unable to read movement inputs requiring a restart.
Penultimate boss has a fire wave attack that would tank frames down to 40ish. During endless mode, when there are alot of mobs and effects on the screen the game would slow down to 30ish fps for a bit until they are killed off.
Vram usage was significantly high, after 2-3 runs the game would be at around 5.5 - 6 gb vram, ram usage was at around 10gb. Might cause a crash after a while but 2.5 hours of gameplay is pretty stable.
The game drops to 30 on alot of sections.
Crashes on anything that has to do with cutscenes (Scenario or Weapon menu), Two logs shows: -mfmediaengine.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module mfmediaengine.dll at 0033:f976b140. -AVProVideo.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module AVProVideo.dll at 0033:367e6e78.
Tried multiple proton versions, Experimental, 8.0-5 (Can't use 8.0-2 like the latest report), 9.0-3, Ge 9-20, Ge 8-32. All give the same result of crashing randomly, specifically when entering the upgrade menus.
