Lots of problems with loading to black screen, or crashing before reaching main menu, or working but with no sound. Eventually got it to work running Proton 5.13-6. I spent over a hour screwing around trying to get it to work and an hour playing. The AI is awful. I'm going to return the game.
Flawless
I've played this game a bit on Windows and unlocked several levels. Playing on Linux on a different PC, I had to start fresh. I'm guessing that's an issue with the game and saving progress locally instead of on Steam cloud? No issues with gameplay though.
Works great. I have only played single player so far. I had the tutorial cutscene crash problem. Just skip the cutscene to avoid it.
Mouse control is lost after using radio. Need to open backpack in order to regain control.
Mouse control also lost when picking up mud, so unable to move it to where I want. I need to drop it and then open backpack in order to regain mouse control.
For those having trouble with the launcher, make sure your graphics card drivers are updated and that you have the dependencies. My game was working flawlessly until I ran apt upgrade and then it stopped launching. Didn't work as native, with any version of Proton, or direct launch from command line. Manually updating my amdgpu drivers did the trick. There are several threads on steam regarding glibc and adding launch parameters as well.
Currently won't launch with any version of Proton. It used to launch, but multiplayer never worked so pointless anyway.
Background music during match very faint despite being turned up. i thought there was music playing elsewhere in my house and kept taking my headphones off to check. Turned music off in match and all better.

Plays as well or better than it did on Windows. Follow the directions posted by others to get mic and EAC working.
Huge FPS drops on a certain map that did not occur on windows. Has occurred at same map on different servers (sorry forgot the name!). Otherwise, flawless and indistinguishable from Win experience.
Follow the instructions posted by others here to get EAC and microphone to work.
Fails to launch.
Hangs on Steam "Preparing to launch" box before finally failing. Tried each version of Proton without any luck.

Tried proton experimental and every old version until 4.13. 4.13 worked the best but still awful. Tried the integer scaling option mentioned in other entries to see if it fixes the inability to move around the map. It did not.
