Purchased last night reading below perfect reviews. Game installs.. does not run.
Not launching on Proton 5.13-3. Steam says "Running", can see exe in "ps aux" with zero activity.
After I selected Proton 4.2-9 it ran 10/10 pefectly even online multiplayer with a Steam friend.
Runs like native on Proton 4.2-9 -- Did not launch with 5.13-3
Good single player experience but is designed for some PVP fun. Multiplayer always reports "Offline" in the various game menus due to EAC.
Rare performance stutter. But disabling VSync made the game stutter indefinitely; Gotta leave that on.
Easy Anti Cheat made multiplayer impossible on Linux
Working great right out of the box. Better widescreen support than I've seen from some AAA 2010s titles!
Classic

You absolutely must grab the shadercache from reddit or the game is a stutterfest. Fixed with that.
Multiplayer seems perfect. Good experience.
Done multiple playthroughs in Proton with the full multiplayer experience with no special treatment. This game has never been a problem.
I'm use Proton 6.16 GE steam-wide and had no issues running this title in first hour of play. Copying save from non-steam release was easy.

Not sure if proton related, but F12 does not react (no screenshot gets taken). Just in case that's important to anybody.
Used to be 10/10 instantly playable, the addition of EAC now prevents queuing in Linux, dual-boot or VM(gpu passthrough) now required.
If you plan to play the Campaign alone or in Split-Screen mode... it's ready for you. Any NETWORK co-op/pvp features are NOT READY.
Fullscreen mode went into 2560x1080 instead of 2560x1440 (native for my monitors). Borderless Windowed mode correctly became 2560x1440.
Multiplayer Co-op for Reach would crash within 10 seconds of mission start on the hill (After long game introduction cutscene). Quite a bummer.
Within 10 seconds of starting CO-OP, all players are kicked back to lobby.
EAC is enabled in this game. As a result, you cannot use the Casual/Competitive multiplayer queues... yet. ("Custom" seems to be clickable)
Even 60hz won't be saturated by a 3900X & 2080ti in some areas, despite heavy cpu multi-threading. Might just need time for optimizations?
The game did not like being alt-entered to toggle fullscreen and would crash if I did it.
Game runs and is playable however stutters terribly in some areas despite 2080ti + 3900X CPU with most cores being used by the game (actually multi-threading across majority host threads yet still stutters hard). Final boss made very difficult given game's low frame-rate during fight.
Serious audio problems in the engine and ini tinkering required for best modern experience. Leave PhysX and VSync off to advoid FPS tanks.
Audio from street-level was louder than Faith's in-engine cutscene dialogue with her sister in the room at the top of this skyscraper. Police sirens, helicopters and other "far away" sounds playing at 100% engine volume like they were in the room while nearby sounds were too quiet and often got 'Cut' mid-play of the sound. Not great.
I was unable to complete the heated moment after visiting Faith's sister, every time I jumped on the outer building glass to slide down, A+D did not strafe Faith side to side to continue running away, I just kept sliding off to my death instead of progressing left to continue the level. Not great.
Frequent sub-60fps moments despite TdEngine.ini modification for fps uncap on 144hz monitor. PhysX disabled was a must to avoid slideshow.
You can feel the load zones. FPS drops to 1 or rendering just pauses on occasion entering elevators and other rooms where loading happens.
My hardware is significantly better than required yet the game suffered most of the time.
Really sweet game with some great fast gameplay if you can get the controls and world interactions down pat. I had a lot of trouble swallowing that same rush and immersive experience using Proton today. Might get better later or be good enough for someone else?
everything I could throw at it gave me a black screen with my cursor and the game never initialized.
Tried Proton GE 6.19, 6.18, 6.17 | Proton Experimental | Proton 6.3-7 and more. Hoping this can be played without having to whip out the VM with some better attempts than mine.
Was able to defeat DJ Subatomic Supernova with no issues on an Xbox One controller before posting this.
(Reported experimental version: Proton Experimental (21/10/2021))
I had to use mf-install to the game's pfx and Proton Experimental's directory to get past the initial black screen
Needed mf-install and the game still sometimes blackscreens. I had to also use 'taskset -c 1-8 %command%' in the Steam Launch Options for the title.
Perhaps hardware dependent? Same experience as Popito, game worked first time, never again til reinstalled/proton prefix cleared.
mf-install with taskset -c 1-8 %command%
in the game launch arguments
When it did run, a few frame stuttering moments but otherwise perfect.
Followup to my first report. Same experience as Popito: the game would launch the first run of install, then all subsequent runs would be a black screen stuck at 5% CPU usage. After a few nights troubleshooting it was still inconsistent on whether the game would do anything past it's initial black screen.
I'm curious on whether this is hardware related given the two "Works + easy" reports are on amdgpu.
The same night as my first report I was able to get it running and tried mf-install and after using adding ‘taskset -c 1-8 %command%’ to my launch options the game began to launch consistently however that report got rejected. I am here today following up as I've launched it again today and it has resumed not launching regardless.
Came back to this as I've been putting off a playthrough. Works perfectly this time around and can be launched more than once.
taskset -c 1-8 %command% (Legacy attempts, may be irrelevant today)
Issue in my original report inconclusive, glad it's working when I tried today.
Proton-6.18-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Frame stuttering often visible despite high specs and monitor hz.
Since the DLC has been added, on the 15 minute mark into starting the game just hard-hangs while still playing the last audio it started.
Working enough to enjoy on the couch or over the net with a friend. The netcode is a little flaky so lower latency fights will be preferred.
Using keyboard and mouse because Xbox One Controller's left+right arrows corresponded to down+up for some reason. Turning off Xbox Controller Support in Steam just made the game not respond to controller input at all.
2080ti, 3900x can only get maybe 30fps max. Good enough to play with friends but not very competitively. Often drops to <15fps once things get exciting.
The game DOES NOT like being alt-tabbed out of. I have to fight with it in my window manager to try and tab back in before it instantly tabs me back out requiring maybe 40 seconds of screwing about. Super fun to play, but can't alt-tab out just to change music real quick between a round without getting locked out of its window.
