Runs Perfectly
Game runs perfectly with no issues. Do be aware that you might get a few frames dropped here or there, but overall it's a delightful experience
Doesn't launch, can't say I'm surprised
Tried multiple different tinker methods to get it to work, but I am unable to launch the game. Honestly, that's probably for the best lol
mangohud %command%
Changed Wine's disks around to avoid a false low disk space error
When many entities are on the map, game audio can become unstable
Occasional stuttering. Loading is slower than on Windows, very few crashes.
%command% --disable-gpu
Game resoltion occasionally goes wonky when alt+tabbing on Wayland
Heavy stuttering, barely playable even on lowest settings
Overall playable, some network jitter is present though
Authoring Tools does NOT work in anything after Proton 4
Works significantly better through Proton. Natively, it has incorrect window handling, fullscreen input is ~8 inches off-centre, and a few other bugs present in native are not found in Proton
Runs Well
Crackling audio off and on
Dropped frames here and there, overall pretty good
Very few issues. You might get some crackling audio or dropped frames, but this is perfectly playable
Launch the game once and let it crash
Edit the file at ~/.config/Epic/PortalWars/Saved/Config/LinuxNoEditor/GameUserSettings.ini
change bHasRunAutoCalibration=False to bHasRunAutoCalibration=True
When alt+tabbing out of the game, the resolution will occasionally be set weirdly when you re-enter the game. alt+tabbing out again fixes it
Occasionally had some jitter, and there is a tiny bit of lag at the start of a match
Overall, this is a very stable game on Linux. You may have a few graphics issues, and it does require a bit of tinkering to get to launch correctly, but it takes about five minutes to get set up and you're ready to play.
Will work almost entirely out of the box. Runs very well with very few issues, and is very stable.
Extremely stable gameplay, never noticed any issues with networking
UE4 Crash on load
Will not even load into the menu. Once you select a game launch mode, you'll be left wondering where the game is for a few minutes before getting a UE4 fatal error
%command% --enable-avpro-in-proton --screen-fullscreen 1
Crackling audio during startup
Retains the same game resolution, uses black bars along the top and bottom when in fullscreen. Game will crash if you attempt to move to another virtual desktop
When playing with a controller the default layout is borked. Use a custom one.
Rough performance overall, but it's playable. However, the memory leak issues will result in worse performance over time until VRChat crashes completely
Frequently crashes when put under stress or when loading certain maps. Will just crash on occasion. Major memory leaks will lead to a crash eventually.
Significant memory leak issues. EAC will false-positive a lot on startup, which requires a game restart to fix. This can take several minutes.
Occasional issues with Udon desync or overall network jitter, but seems fine for the most part. Video players are very unreliable
Although your experience will be unstable and a bit buggy, VRChat is overall playable in desktop mode.
