Approx. one per hour with pre-rendered cutscenes enabled
Not able to connect at all
You can either play with pre-rendered cutscenes enabled or disabled. With them enabled, the game will crash roughly once every hour. The game only saves when you rest at a shrine, so this can result in lost progress.
To fix this, go to the game's local files and rename the 'movies' folder. The game will then be perfectly stable.
One exception is the first mission of the first DLC. You must enable movies (rename the folder back to what it was) before entering the final boss of the mission, or you will be softlocked.
So:
- Rename the movies folder to disable prerendered cutscenes and make the game stable
- Watch cutscenes online, if you prefer
- Re-enable them before the final boss of the first DLC mission
This way you are really only missing out on the short videos the game uses to demonstrate skills.
However, you can always re-enable movies for a little while if there's something in particular you want to see. The game doesn't crash instantly, it takes a while (likely a gradual memory corruption issue).
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
Use PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command% for your command line arguments with GE 7 and it should work OK. For me, lower versions or different arguments resulted in the launcher menu not working, a red tint over gameplay, or massive visual slowdown.
May require some fiddling to get working, but it's now a solid 60fps on ultra for me.
Identical to Windows
This is a very short game so if you do have some minor issues with it, you can probably just power through them.
