Game does not hold 60 fps in all areas
Big areas like Mafia Town, Alpine Skylines and Nyakuza Metro make the fps drop to the 40s on the default settings (Very high). I suggest dropping down to High and locking the FPS to 50, still very playable and without major slowdowns
Very rare crackling every once in a while
While in first person, fps can drop in the cities in the high 20s - low 30s
Proton is much faster than Native and works really well. Fully compatible with mods, I have over 20GBs of them. Be mindful that, if you use Proton, it will use its own folder inside compatdata, not the default Linux one. Performance is good, I have locked it to 40fps on High Settings. Sometimes drops in the high 20s-low 30s in big cities, not that big of a deal for this game. Some brief stuttering when going very fast but nothing major. Control scheme is excellent, translates very well to the steam deck buttons.
Text is small sometimes
Minor audio crackling in the final video
The game runs beautifully on Deck, mantaining 60 fps on High settings in all areas but cyberspace levels, where it can drop in the high 30s. Since those levels are more puzzle based is not that big of deal, excluding the final area. Activated Gyro for the camera, a value of 30 was the best compromise.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
Added Select button, made the Left Trackpad a D-Pad
What can I say, runs smooth as butter. I did not have the same problems the other reviewer had, all songs played with no slowdowns. In fact, I installed the High Refresh Rate Mod (https://gamebanana.com/mods/380955) and overclocked the screen to 70Hz (https://github.com/ryanrudolfoba/SteamDeck-RefreshRateUnlocker) and played all songs at 70FPS with no problems.
The Eden Project worked as it should, installation was easy. The total number of songs after the DLC and the mod is over 400, that will keep you busy for plenty of time.
I also tried docking the Deck briefly. 1080p is flawless, 60fps across the board. 2K and even 4K is fine on some lighter PVs, heavier ones will drop the frame rate considerably everytime there's a close up of the characters. For example, at 4K, Doppleganger would flip between 60 FPS and 24 FPS. 2K did better at 45 FPS, but still, 1080p is the choice to make. Still, quite a few worked well at 4K, I was quite impressed.
In the end, the Deck is perfect for Project Diva, best version of the game by far with the best performance and the most content. Why is this not verified Valve?
Removed Haptics on Buttons
3W TDP and 200Mhz GPU
Works flawlessly. 07th Mod + Italian Language Patch worked out of the box, I only had to change the resolution to Fullscreen to make it sharper.
Game performs well overall. The game's performance drops dramatically after reaching Hawaii, maintaining a stable 40FPS cap is difficult without making serious sacrifices.
These are my recommend settings:
Medium preset Set Resolution scale to 90% Disable any kind of FSR 30 FPS cap
FSR, even at Quality, really destroys the look of the image, making it look all kind of crusty and jagged. You won't reach 40 FPS with FSR Quality anyway, just avoid it and adjust Resolution Scale.
Worth mentioning is the Ultrawide fix mod at https://www.nexusmods.com/likeadragoninfinitewealth/mods/20?tab=description, it removes those annoying letterboxes the game puts on every cutscene (and there are a lot of those). There are some visual anomalies caused by it but nothing major.
Game runs as it should. I tried an earlier version and it caused softlocks, but this does not happen anymore, at least with Proton GE
5 Watts is enough
The game becomes blurry when moving the mouse. Does not happen in docked mode
Had about 7-8 hard freezes, especially in Chapter 6 and 7
Game plays great on Deck, played it all the way through. It's quite a bit heavier than Vanilla Portal 2 but setting SMAA to x2, I had very minimal drops under 60 fps, it was very smooth overall. The game hard freezed a few times during my playthrough, especially during a section in Chapter 7 where it happened every 20 minutes. The game autosaves pretty often so it wasn't a big deal overall, but it's worth noting. Tried with Proton instead of Native and camera controls were bugged, haven't tested further. One of the chambers in chapter 7 was quite hard to do with a controller due to the quick reflexes needed. Aside from that, game is fully playable start to finish with a controller. Highly recommend if you are a fan of Portal 2, and it's free, no reasons not to check it out!
Works great with latest Proton GE version. Default Proton will not work, shows a black screen
Crackling every once in a while
The game does not mantain stable 60 fps at all
The game just doesn't run well on Deck out of the box. I installed the mods suggested in the other reports and, while it improved the performance, it can still drop below 40FPS. At least there are no more drops to the single digits
Great experience on Deck. Installing mods recommended for better experience, but not necessary
Trackpad as a giant single A button for comfort when laying down
As other reports noted, installing both TGAA Community patch (https://github.com/AdmiralCurtiss/dgs_hackfix) and the High-Quality Audio patch (https://gamebanana.com/mods/309458) is recommended. The former in particular improves battery life while running at double the framerate, so it's a win-win!
Game plays great docked at 1080p 60fps, really no issues whatsoever
Works perfectly at 60 FPS at high settings. Proton GE needed for correct cutscenes to work.
Without the latest proton GE, some cutscenes will have wrong audio and end early. Needed as it's such a story-intensive game
