protontricks --no-bwrap 893180 ~/mf_catherine.verb
Launch options: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 prime-run %command%
Remove prime-run if you don't use nvidia prime.

- Create a new prefix
WINEPREFIX=~/moguri winecfg
- Make a symlink to FF9 files
ln -s ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/FINAL\ FANTASY\ IX/ ~/moguri/drive_c/FF9
- Launch the installer from wineconsole
WINEPREFIX=~/moguri wineconsole
Install in
C:\FF9\Remove the prefix
rm -r ~/moguri/
- Enjoy!

The only problem I noticed is when going fullscreen with alt+enter it seemed to lose mouse input. Fixed by exiting fullscreen and back again.
