Steam claims the game is "Playable", it's not
You can install it on the Deck in game mode but you will hit an Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) error and be unable to sign in to your Xbox account. Without that you can't get further into the game.
I suggest playing initially on a PC to setup your first three maids as you can customize them and will be dealing with a lot of menus and sliders. Hooking up a mouse works too. I used the default WASD/mouse to joypad controls Steam has set but doing the customization steps was annoying.
It all runs fine with default settings but t's generally a bad game that you can't even buy anymore.
Make sure to switch to Gamepad and then expect some delay booting up if you added any custom content from the Steam Workshop.
Game plays singleplayer and local multiplayer flawlessly once everything is setup, you just have to make sure GamePad is enabled before bootup (controller icon to the right of the play button). The other issue you might encounter is with the secondary launcher. I highly suggest you have your Ubisoft and Steam accounts linked before booting the game on SteamDeck. If you have access to a PC, link the accounts there and make sure it boots properly. Then you shouldn't get any major problems when booting up Ubisoft games on the Deck. I did have to reboot once as it just hung on the in-game client patcher but has worked fine since.
