Runs like a dream, but lacks native controller support. A community controller layout is strongly recommended for this game.
This game does not have native controller support. I created(and used) a controller layout that binds essential keybinds to face and shoulder buttons without reliance on back grip buttons as I feel they're unnecessary. Building controls are bound to the left trackpad and actions are bound to the face buttons and D-Pad. The right trackpad is used for standard mouse control. The left and right analog sticks control movement and camera/mouse respectively.
Game doesn't have 16:10 support and is locked to 16:9
Despite 16:10 resolutions existing in settings, the game does not fill any remaining screen space and there will be letterboxing.
The default mapping may have the capacative right stick set to enable gyro controls, I recommend going into controller configuration and disabling this.
The Souls series is known for having subpar networking for multiplayer; this entry is no exception.
Set refresh rate to 40hz
Game runs fine. Tutorial prompts may have issues on default settings, yet to test on Windows or other configurations.
The game's demo was sent as a promotional key from the developer. Tutorial prompts show color bars, likely a result of an unsupported video format, but the tutorial text contains enough information to understand.
Players new to the Shmup/Bullet Hell genre may notice significant slowdown when there are many sprites/bullets during gameplay. This is natural to the genre and is an intended mechanic to accurately replicate the original arcade hardware.
Game runs with everything on default settings, played the tutorial and one of the worlds included.
Set graphics to medium. Capped refresh rate to 40hz.
The below report states that exiting from the ingame menu did not work and the game must be closed through the Steam overlay. After testing ingame the menu now works fine and does not require the user to open the Steam overlay to exit the game.
Keyboard bindings can be changed, but gamepad bindings cannot.
As of today users cannot change gamepad bindings, though this may change in the future as the game is still in early access.
The game only has 16:9 resolutions, as a result there will be letterboxing
After installing protontricks, you'll want to open protontricks > Default winetricks > Install Windows DLL/Component > vcrun2022
After that the game runs well, unsure about resolution as there were no options to lower but the game is stuck in 16:9 and possibly due to Steam Deck hardware it seems unable to hit 60FPS.
Game will not launch without installing vcrun2022. Game's framerate fluctuates above 45 even after lowering the "scaling" option, which seems to be the only graphics setting, and I capped the refresh rate to 40hz to maintain stability. Yet to test with Proton-GE non-default Proton settings.
