- Download the .bin file here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?61261-Linux-Testing
- Perform the steps in the post, it will install it on your local /home/ directory. You will need to tweak it if you want it on a separate drive.
- Login, activate your product via your license key (In steam assuming)
- Once you get to the main splash screen, you can close it and launch it natively in Steam from here on out. 4a) Might need to tweak play path if you are installing on a separate drive.
I have ran it for under 1 hour and so far no issues. Since it's my main method for hosting Tabletop games with my players I will no doubt put more hours into it. I also have some custom extensions for my games that I will have to test. Will update the guide here with any further updates/patches/fixes that I run into.
The dev team is currently working on a native windows release. There has been some slow-down but given even the windows version is a beta it might be a year away still.
Now works natively in linux without tinkering. I've hosted a few sessions so far without issues.
Had players connect to me zero issues.
I have custom extensions I develop and they work without issue as well.
Game window would not launch if I tried to use PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
I would get an initial menu that would tell me the game saves data automatically, and to not shut off the system. After that the game would freeze up. I assume it is supposed to play a media file here. I used MF-Install as another user had suggested, and it sounds like I am at some kind of main menu screen but the window is entirely black. I downloaded and tested on the trial version of the game, which does have a different STEAM ID but I do not think buying the game to then test it would yield much of a difference.
I am happy to announce this game now works on my compuer with no issues. No launch commands needed. Just set to Proton Experimental
Had to wait after the "save game" warning at first launch for a minute before the next menu will load.
Native version does not appear to be very stable, I found it too frustrating to keep restarting.
Game would infrequently freeze during combat. Would have to force kill process to close. Also experienced freezes at main menu if left to idle.
Rarely, the game will freeze on an A.I. turn. 50/50 chance it will stop hanging after a minute.
I tried the latest version of Proton but this doesn't make it to the main menu without crashing.
Works out of the box
Difficult to read font - May not be an issue if your monitor is 1080p
Battles look great on ulta without any lag.
Asides from the first time I launched it, I ran into no issue.
The game did not launch the first time. I did nothing to fix it, but after the third time I opened the game it worked fine ever since then.
My Bluetooth wireless controller was supported as well and I had no latency/delay using it.
