PERFECT PERFORMANCE
There was absolutely nothing problematic about this game, everything was plug and play. No issues whatsoever. The FPS was good, and the stability was just like native. The game looks amazing despite its age and can actually compete with modern AAA games in terms of graphics alone.
RUNS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT
I didnt have any graphical issues or audio issues. I use Debian 12 and have an RX6600 and Ryzen 5 3600. No issues on my end. It installed and ran perfectly. 80+ FPS at all times, with high settings! My PC isn't even so powerful, yet it runs the game easily. No FPS drops noticed so far, no stutters, nothing. The game starts, the game plays, the game works. Some other users are reporting that they needed to use certain launch options to make it work.
Maybe that is for their specific hardware (Nvidia issue maybe) or maybe it is their version of the linux kernel. I don't have any such issues. Debian is as stable as it gets, and I have no trouble with this game. Also, I love this game so far, what an amazing job by the devs!
No issues. Everything works out of the box.
The game ran out of the box and did not give any trouble whatsoever on my PC. I am running Debian 12 and have fairly decent specs as you can see on the side panel ->
The game ran well and though I only played for a few hours (had other stuff to do), it was perfect and without hitches.
Great performance and no crashes
Sometimes the game was unable to log in to the Elden Ring servers, but then I would click retry, and it would work after a few times. This never happens to any other FromSoft games on my PC.
The game never crashed on me and gave me a solid performance. The PC port is fine, works well and is responsive enough to be considered fun.
The game sometimes failed to connect to the Elden Ring servers, but after I clicked retry a few times, it would work. This happened once every 10 times and wasn't much of an issue.
Took my Refund.
Starts and crashes. The latest update probably broke the game for Proton. Tried several launch options from ProtonDB, but they are all outdated. The game won't run. Will probably be fixed in the future. The game was supposedly working well for other linux and deck users a few months ago, but not anymore.
If you're reading in the future, please check the date on this review and make sure that the game works in your time. Don't worry, if it doesn't, you can get a refund on steam. Good luck!
USE PROTON 4.2-9 . IT WILL NOT WORK WITH NEWER PROTON VERSIONS.
RUNS SMOOTHLY ON 4.2.9
Ran without hitches
Sometimes there were bugs like the game breaking if you enter a stable with your horse. Those are bugs known on Windows too, I think. Other times, there were connectivity issues but much rarer.
Used to get pretty good FPS earlier, but some updates lowered the performance a bit. FPS dropped by 10, (went from 110 to 100, no big deal.) The game runs and there are no differences in linux, compared to windows. No crashes or whatever, either. I have played close to 30 hours, and it is all good so far.
Runs Like Native, no need for tinkering in my distro
I installed the game and clicked play. That is all, no launch options altered, no login issue, no fps drops, no tinkering required, nothing. Just install and play. This was on Debian 12 stable, with 16 GB Ram, Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon RX 6600.
All other details are given in the side panel. I got a constant 60 fps in the game without issues and no crashing whatsoever (some users on Proton say there were crashes after fighting bosses, but not to me. Not ever. PERFECT Performance.) Plus, it is so much fun and very responsive to my controller as well.
Runs Perfectly Out Of The Box
The Witcher 3 ran without problems on my Debian 12 distro. Everything was good and there were no crashes or performance issues. This is perhaps the best exploration game I have played. Lots of stuff to do and doesn't get boring.
I do believe it is overwhelming in the beginning, many menus and tabs with lots of ingredients, books and letters and power ups and weapons etc. But once you take your time and go through things slowly, it becomes really worth it. After level 7 or 8, you pretty much know what needs to be done at most times. Don't take quests that are too high level for you.
The FPS was not amazing, but it was decent.
Had to lower the graphics settings a little bit for the game to run smoothly, even though on Windows the game would run fine without needing to do so. Still fun to play, music is great, not a big game. Just a one-time fun game with a small map and a few boss fights. EndeavourOS runs it fine.
