Need to force SDL to use X11 driver if using Wayland, otherwise the launcher will report error 134. Otherwise works without issue.
Works well if you hardware supports it, other have claimed experimental is needed but I did not run into those issues.
Audio is extremely loud on Linux machines at first, easily tuned in the in-game settings.
GPU is very old so I am not expecting it to play well.
Game would not load at first, tried rebooting Steam and machine a few times and then suddenly it did start working. So keep at it and the game should load.

Had to force the SDL driver to use X11 to get the game to load at all when using wayland. There were minor artifacts at the initial loading screen but otherwise the same seem solid. A native X11 session should work without tinkering but I have not tested this.
Latest update fixes launch issue, but now the game reports not having enough disk space to save a game.

Game appears to be playable, but saving might be questionable.

Switched to GE-Proton9-25 as it provided slightly better performance. Had to tune down the render distance from High to Medium to fix major graphical artifacts.
Otherwise the game plays nicely, been getting a solid 40-60 FPS which I could improve more after some tuning.

Make sure your Nvidia drviers are update to date as I had major artifacting before updating my Nvidia driver.
Frame gen seems to be unstable so I have left it off and only experianced a single crash with FG off.
GE Proton9-25 seems to be more stable than Proton Experimental/Hotfix, as I have not had any major issues as long as I keep frame generation off.
The game experianced major artifacting before I updated my Nvidia drivers, so make sure you r drivers are up to date. Additionally, it seems that first time loading a map for the session causes lag as the map is loaded into VRAM. This is easily worked around by waiting a minute or so the first time you enter a new map to let the preloading finish.
Otherwise, I am able to get a solid 50-60 FPS with medium high settings, and importantly, monster hunting has solid performance.

Rockstar launcher did not work until forced to use proton experimental
Lutris install script used to install Uplay Connect.
Crashed at start up until forcing the use of experimental proton.
Game would not close cleanly and resulted in a black screen. Attempting to force close did not work, had to reboot machine.
I got the game as part of the bundle and thus had to launch from Uplay Connect instead of Steam which made install and playing harder. Lutris is used to handle Wine and installing/running Uplay Connect and overall works fine after forcing use of Experimental Proton.

Does not look like Stellaris supports Wayland so you have to force the X11 SDL driver. This can cause artifacts when using a wayland session, but more testing is needed.
