Game never loads
Using these launch options:
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% +in_terminal 1 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +com_skipKeyPressOnLoadScreens 1 +com_skipSignInManager 1
The game never loads. Tried out-of-the-box Proton 5.0-9 as well as Proton-5.9-GE-2-MF, Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST, and Proton-5.11-GE-3-MF. Result was the same each time.
The system tray icon Wine window appears and then a game window comes up telling me I have version 337.88 of the Nvidia driver installed, but I must have 445.75 or newer. I'm running 440.100 (latest on Ubuntu 20.04 right now) so there is already an issue here. I have two options: "Yes" or "Play". Choosing "Yes" just exits and sends you to Nvidia's website. Choosing "Play" the window will disappear and after 30-60 seconds Wine shuts down and the green "Play" button comes back in Steam.
Outputting the Proton log doesn't show any errors. Not much to go on from here. I tried running Steam through Lutris with debug mode on as well, but again, no errors. It just exits.
I'm using Steam installed via Flatpak. I haven't tried running it outside of Flatpak so maybe there is something there. Might try that if I get some time.

Whenever an achievement is unlocked and the Steam notification appears, the video freezes. Audio continues as normal and I can ALT+TAB out of the game, but I haven't found any way to continue. I kill the game process and relaunch to continue playing.
The game does not work when running Steam from Flatpak as of 7/17/2020 on the latest freedesktop (19.08). However, 20.08 (currently in beta) supposedly fixes this problem. I was unable to confirm that fix.
Most of the screen goes white after a few minutes of play. I've been killing the process when this happens (twice so far), but I will try what others have suggested as faster workarounds.
Game worked flawlessly prior to recent holiday update; now borked

Tried running Proton 7.0-5, Hotfix, and Experimental. Nothing shows up now in the Valve Index HMD and on the monitor you see a few colors and some movement to the beat of the music, but can't make out what it might be. Music starts playing as normal. There is no menu or any ability to navigate.
