Heavy stuttering every single second caused by Origin client online features, yet playable.
Punkbuster had to be installed separately by hand with wine (or in my case by adding the installer as a non-steam game to run it on proton) to the Battlefield4 game folder located in steamfolder/steamapps/common
Origin, when being online, seems to heavily stutter this game (as well as Battlefield1 via Lutris) exactly every single second. If one manages to launch the game with the chat of Origin being offline, this stutter doesn't exist.
Punkbuster, which works fine if installed with wine.
Pings to servers seems to give weird values
Created a custom dxvk.conf
in the game installation directory containing only the following line:
dxgi.customVendorId = 10de
In Forza Horizon 4 launch commands on Steam, point the DXVK_CONFIG_FILE
variable to the dxvk.conf
created, resulting into the following launch command (replace my_username with your username and verify that this is actually the installation folder and/or the path to the dxvk.conf
created):
DXVK_CONFIG_FILE="/home/my_username/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/ForzaHorizon4/dxvk.conf" %command%
In the in-game video options changed the following:
- Basic
- Dynamic optimization: OFF
- Frame rate: 144 FPS
- Vertical synchronisation: ON
- Full screen: ON
- Advanced
- Using medium preset
- MSAA: OFF
- FXAA: ON
With these, the game has not crashed once.
The performance is comparable to a native Windows version. With the lowest settings, the FPS was more than doubled in comparison in my case.
The launch command WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command% was mandatory to be able to play online, otherwise the game will crash
The graphics settings can only be tampered with when the game is in windowed mode, tweaking those while in fullscreen never saves the settings despite of applying them.
Crashing after the launcher
The main game window crashes with 'An unexpected error occured. [ NP0 ]' without rendering anything. The game is using nProtect GameGuard anticheat.
(Reported experimental version: experimental-5.13-20201218c)
Launch options: PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command% -vulkan -ignorepipelinecache
Inconsistent 'Game error: please reboot and restart the game' crash, may happen in minutes or after multiple hours of playing
Consistently crashes at every other launch (starting from the first) after Rockstar Launcher, therefore might need to launch twice for the game to work.
SNOW sure plays, but the heavy slowdowns make the experience unenjoyable
Frequent slowdowns
SNOW version 1.1.0.1 (The Ultimate Edition update)
The game only works in windowed mode and it simply "cannot connect to Steep servers", yet a basic freeroam works without being online
Game works if it's not in fullscreen mode, as fullscreen only shows a black screen. However, changing windowmode to windowed by setting WindowMode=0 in the Steam/steamapps/compatdata/460920/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/STEEP/Default/STEEP.ini launches the game in windowed mode, which works.
Game only works in windowed mode
Couldn't get a PS3 controller to work with Steam Input, which works fine on other games such as GTA V

Steam Input doesn't seem to work with Steep.
