You MUST download atelier-sync-fix from github and set it up in launch options before playing or your framerate will be abysmal.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d11=n,b" %command%
Needs atelier-sync-fix to double framerate on steam deck
Download atelier-sync-fix and put d3d11.dll in your game's .exe folder where Atelier_Ryza.exe and Atelier_Ryza_Launcher.exe is, then put WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d11=n,b" %command% in your game's launch options under properties to activate the fix. This fix allegedly works for other Koei Tecmo games as well.
Tested on GE-Proton7-9 but also works on regular proton versions. leave your launch options field empty and run it vanilla.
Will not launch if you attempt to load stuff like gamemoderun or libstrangle in your launch options so leave your launch options field blank, neither are really necessary anyway since in game Vsync works fine and the game blazes past 60fps if you have Vsync off. Was even able to alt tab without issue.
Works fine on Nobara with Proton 7.0-4
GNOME Overview doesn't like when you switch to a different window with this game open, however, just going to the workstation you have the game open on and alt tabbing will bring you back to the game just fine.
You MUST force_vk_vendor=-1 if intel hardware is anywhere inside your system or you won't run the game.
force_vk_vendor=-1
Enabling Nvidia DLSS 3 Frame Gen will cause the whole screen to go black in a way that is very difficult to fix cause it affects the menus.
After a few matches the game seems to randomly become low FPS to a near unplayable degree. Will fix itself randomly as well.
Enabling Lumen, even if your PC has the hardware to handle it, will drastically increase your game's chances of crashing.
force_vk_vendor=-1 fixes crashing on startup for people who have an intel iGPU even if they're using an Nvidia dGPU, as well as the DX12 error. YMMV according to people on github, this hasn't fixed it for everyone. This game is apparently also unstable on Windows as well. Thanks Unreal Engine 5.
Works on Proton 7.0-4, surprised to see it didn't screw up switching to Area X either considering that seems like a separate .exe
The game runs on GZDoom, GZDoom has a native linux port. Yes, it works.
Black screen/Resolution screwup until you run the game once and set shaders to 0 in worlds.cfg then after that the game will run perfectly.
May need to use Proton version to deal with a weird resolution issue that affects Gaming mode by simply not displaying anything, and affects desktop mode by massively messing up the resolution, and must set shaders to 0 in worlds.cfg after launching the game once or you will get a black screen.
Black screen until you turn shaders to 0 in worlds.cfg
You can run this game just fine on the Steam Deck, I even personally uploaded a steam input config for it to save you time getting the controls right after extensive testing, just know that it's going to have a black screen and simply not open in gaming mode until you edit 1 number in a text file. I advise having your first launch of the game that creates this .cfg file be in desktop mode, not gaming mode. Also, run the game in fullscreen, not windowed, or the menu mouse input will be offset.
Something of a hefty roadbump to go over before it runs which is why this has a orange thumbs down but the game DOES play perfectly fine after these steps.
