Presumably will work with the next stable version of Proton. No tinkering or any launch options were required other than using Proton Experimental. (I default my Steam to use the latest Stable Proton for most games.)
An Excellent Experience
Literally works perfectly on both my PC and Steam Deck. I adjusted settings down a little bit to get a better framerate (and I prefer to have FSR turned off), but nothing outside of the main menu.
Worked perfectly with no changes.
Paradox's launcher also works fine, and allows you to select some basic game settings before launch which I appreciate. It updates fine as well.
Note: KUbuntu was updated to 23.10.
Finally Working, Early 2024
It didn't work the last time I tried it, but the main issues I experienced now are simply due to changes in how their accounts work. Once I figured that out, I was able to update and run it with the latest Proton.
Works essentially perfectly.
Actually works better than Windows, which will usually skip a few frames on connection or in down during auto-save. On Linux/Proton, I see no frame drops on save or online connectivity.
The opening logo may on occasion have crackly audio, but I do not count that. If the game doesn't launch immediately check for any mods. RE Framework does work, but may occasionally prevent the game from launching. Simply running the game again will generally work. Without mods, I do not see any glitches whatsoever. Even with mods, the game generally runs better than on Windows, with more consistent framerates and much more responsive controls.
Works Perfectly
Between Unreal Engine and decent optimization, this game works exactly as you would expect. Solid frame rate, no bugs I have noticed so far.
