When the game crashes, the last autosave just doesn't load. Best to make frequent manual saves.
FPS drops in the Xen levels
Game will complain it runs out of video memory and crash sometimes
The latest version of Proton GE does fix the menu flickering with the new UI. Native version has a lot of graphical glitches, and using Proton Experimental causes menu flickering.
Game is generally smooth with Proton GE, but the fps drops in Xen and especially the low VRAM crashing is somewhat of a dealbreaker.
Default settings were definitely slow, but turning off tesselation makes things run much smoother without a noticeable difference in visuals.
Thumbstick aiming is really sluggish, so I'd really suggest switching to gyro for the best experience. It may cause the game to show keyboard shortcuts instead of controller buttons for prompts, but that's a pretty minor tradeoff IMO.
Other than that and the aformentioned tesselation thing, it works pretty well.
Set gyro activation to left trigger soft pull for aiming.
40 Hz refresh rate with 40 fps cap. Also makes it run smoother.
There's messages about it being "unsupported" and it can only be interacted with via touchscreen. Uncheck "always show this launcher" to not have it appear again.
Some places are a bit heavy, 40 fps cap mostly helps but can still dip below that.
This game can run at Medium settings, but I'd recommend Low for better consistency alongside the other tweaks here.
Game does not launch, gives error message
A dialog box will appear saying "An unknown exception has occurred" when trying to start the game.
Works great, but don't use D9VK
Using the default DX9 renderer works great, but using D9VK does reduce performance (even with ACO).
Quitting the game does not work properly. You will need to use a task manager or run killall TESV.exe
in a terminal to close it.
Audio was a bit muffled and you basically have to be in front of the characters to hear their voices properly.
Note: Proton-GE uses FAudio with FFMPEG enabled, so there's no need to use WINEDLLOVERRIDES to get sound working.
No other problesm to report on so far. Works great aside from some audio quirks.
