Game might not come back to fullscreen on tiling WMs
Check the steam guide for more information if the game doesn't launch.
ProtonTricks -> WineCFG -> Libraries -> manually add "dwrite" for (native,builtin)
Same as what 'TheReverendDude' mentioned in his report[1]. Note that, after making the changes, my game didn't launch for the first time; I had to launch a second time.

Had to use "+mat_setvideomode 1600 900 1" in launch options for launching in 1600x900 windowed mode.
Specify resolution with "mat_setvideomode" or with "-w NUM -h NUM" to avoid black screen.

Had to manually disable fullscreen from there in order to configure the resolution correctly. It was adding the width of both of my monitors, so I could only see the left half of the game.
Read other note. Could only see left half of the game until I messed with config files.
If the game gets stuck on the loading screen, try to disable Steam overlay.

Switch to windowed.
Had to open the game on my second monitor, switch to windowed, and move to main monitor.

For playing online in 2025, after BattlEye support, search for "Proton BattlEye Runtime" on your steam library and install it. Then replace the path to the installation directory on the launch options.
In a terminal, run protontricks 6900 directmusic.
If you get a black screen, run protontricks 6900 directmusic in a terminal.

Saves are not stored with Steam Cloud, just the config.
Sometimes runs out of video memory, probably not related to proton.

Had to edit "steamapps/common/STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl/appdata/user.ltx" to disable fullscreen.
