Framerate bug makes this very tedious to play at the moment.
In each play session, game runs at solid 60fps at near max graphic settings for a while, but then, usually during a cutscene or area transition, the FPS very suddenly drops to about 15fps and remains at that framerate or lower until the game is restarted. Restarting completely fixes the problem until it eventually occurs again. Cause of this bug is unknown.
Runs perfectly after disabling Uplay overlay
By default, the Uplay in-game overlay is enabled. This can cause annoying Uplay graphics to get stuck on the screen, and can also cause issues with windowing (e.g., alt-tab, etc). If the Uplay overlay is disabled, then the game works absolutely perfectly.
Works fine out of the box.
A few times the menus seemed to behave incorrectly when using an Xbox One controller, but this may be a more general bug (i.e., present on Windows) rather than a Proton-specific problem.
The Microsoft .NET Framework wasn't installing correctly, so the game wouldn't launch. I was able to modify the Wine prefix to use its Windows XP compatibility setting, which seemed to get it to work, though the install took well over fifteen minutes. Even then, I had to restart Steam to run the game, as something from the install process seemed to be hanging. However, after that, the game then worked flawlessly. (It is also possible that something to do with Steam accounts affected this, though I don't think it most likely. I failed to get it to install on one account, and then switched to another, where I succeeded, so I cannot rule out that that switch affected something.)
When launching from Steam Big Picture, game always opens windowed. However, Alt+Enter toggles it back to fullscreen. Game properly opens in fullscreen when not using Big Picture.
Game is a little bit stuttery when panning across the scene, but it doesn't significantly affect the experience.
The game does not work at all in Proton 6.3-5, so you must run it with Proton 5.13-6. The game does not support controllers, but mouse and keyboard or the Steam Controller work fine.
Will not launch in fullscreen from Steam Big Picture, but can be toggled back to fullscreen by pressing Alt+Enter. Fullscreen functions normally if not launching from Big Picture.
Minor stuttering that does not affect gameplay when panning across the scene.
No Steam achievements triggered. Only works with Proton 5.13, will not run with Proton 6.3.
Runs perfectly except for the brief fullscreen issue at the very beginning of game
As other reports note, game will initially run in windowed mode until tutorial is completed. After that, all graphical options can be changed, and fullscreen works fine.
Mostly perfect, though minor stutters are present and manual tweaks are needed to import old saves from past seasons.
Save files from earlier seasons can only be imported if you manually copy them to the correct location in the compatdata folder for this game. If that is done correctly, then they will import perfectly.
There are occasional stutters, especially on scene transitions. Some are almost imperceptibly tiny, while others freeze the screen for around one second before recovering. It doesn't really affect the functionality of the game, but it reduces the aesthetic impact of some scene transitions. Perhaps due to shader compilation or something? I'm unsure if these stutters also exist on Windows...they might, since Telltale games usually have some degree of jank.
Nearly perfect experience
The only bug encountered was an opening/closing video clip that wouldn't play (I think this was just the studio logo or similar, not actual game content). Perhaps a media foundation codec issue? I didn't try to debug it since it had no impact on the experience.
