Switch to Proton 8.0-5 if the game complains about ur GPU not being D3D11 compatible, otherwise, the game works perfectly I'm using Pico 4 with WiVRn through Envision-XR (AUR)
Install d3dcompiler_43,d3dx9,and dxvk via "Select the default wineprefix">"Install a Windows DLL or component"
Reducing visual fadelity is reccomended as with default graphics settings I was getting consistant frame skipping(no thanks to steamvr) at 72Hz!
does not launch as of the mobilized update
also tried on proton 9,8,6 and GE proton 15,19,20
In-game videos don't play
I had to switch my amd gpu to high performance mode, otherwise, the game had problems keeping 90 frames. Tested on Pico 4 through ALVR.
Works pretty good with Proton GE with stable 120 FPS after manually setting the GPU power profile
echo "manual" > /sys/class/drm/card1/device/power_dpm_force_performance_level
echo "4" > /sys/class/drm/card1/device/pp_power_profile_mode
After downloading latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable use terminal command
protontricks -c 'wine ~/Downloads/VC_redist.x64.exe' 963930
From there, just click through the GUI installer and you should be good!
After installing latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable the game runs great; Works online with in game modded levels and modes! Played wirelessly on quest 2 with ALVR 4k, 120hz.
Install vcrun2022
Needed to lower graphics settings to get smooth rendering
Haven't tried multiplayer yet
Installed the 2022 C++ redist by renaming and swapping the game exe with the installer exe instead of using protontricks
Works if you install the 2022 version of C++ Redists manually instead of built-in from protontricks
Ran VC++ 2022 install per @Weeb Trash's instructions
I followed the steps mentioned by @Weeb Trash after my previous report and was able to get the game to launch. I was able to download mods and start a bunch of solo 'online' matches with bots and did not have any issues after getting the game to actually launch.
Requires the 2022 C++ runtime, but protontricks can only install 2019.
- Download the X64 version from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#visual-studio-2015-2017-2019-and-2022
- Run
protontricks --gui
select Contractors > Default Wine Prefix > winecfg. Then Add an application, choose the VC X64 exe you just downloaded, then set it to Windows 7, save and close winecfg. - Back in protontricks select Run uninstaller > Install > VC_redist.X64.exe and follow the install instructions
- Launch the game as normal through Steam
You may also want to try the X86 version if the X64 version does not work for you, but just the X64 was sufficient for me.
I haven't played anything beyond the tutorial so I can't say anything about any in game bugs or performance, but judging by the other reports it should be playable once you are able to boot it. I will update this if it turns out to be unplayable.
Broken again with error about needing Visual C++ Runtime
protontricks 963930 vcrun2019
Game suppsedly worked earlier, but seems to be broken again. Previous reports say to run protontricks command to install vcrun2019 but I still get an error about needing the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime. Tried with all recent versions of Proton (7, experamental, GE, etc) and earlier Linux Kernels too and the error comes up every time.
protontricks 963930 vcrun2019
Won't run without the protontricks preparation. Run the game once so it can initialize the proton prefix, then run the protontricks line, it will take some time, then you can run the game from now on.
I used protontricks to install vcrun2019
No clue what the single command version is for that again but I just used the gui
Command used in this case protontricks 963930 --gui
Select the default wine prefix --> install a Windows DLL or component --> select vcrun2019
Wait until the process finishes and enjoy
No issues whatsoever
Personally used the Bleeding Edge branch of proton eperimental, should work using stable brach too
Game starts, gives the first panels and crashes.
Crashes 2-3 seconds after entering the main menu.
Can't click anything, just crashes to desktop. refunded
fatal error, tried 5.0.5 4.11.13 and 3.16.9
A window pops up with "Fatal error!"
wont start. Behaviour is quite similar to pavlov - wich has worked in the past. It might be fixed, since booth games use the unreal engine
needs some time to load all graphics at first, then is playable. had one crash but than none for over an hour
