Works flawlessly out the box.
Not the greatest game, and its population is primarily kids on mobile phones, but it works.
Apparently the anti cheat recognizes the wine / steam proton (I tested them both on the same hardware), like a cheat
The game updates upon launch, but does not log in or open the game or configuration menu.
In my case I have steam installed in /home/$USER/.steam so I used sudo ln -s /home/$USER/.steam /home/$USER.steam

The game has a problem with the built-in updater when running on Linux. It's the same problem as what was reported below but... you have to adapt the soft link to where you have the game installed.
I only got the game to work with the GE 5.9 ST series. I currently use Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST. I could not get it to work with more recent versions or the older MF versions. Also I got this to work on my sons computer. He has his steam games on a separate disk. I had to adapt the ln paths to his dedicated steam location.
tried fixing the update loop with command : sudo ln -s /home/$USER/.local /home/$USER.local but it still didn't fix it.
the proton versions i used was 5. and 4.2. when trying the older versions the game crashes before showing any menu or update.

Mouse begins to teleport if the game is running lower than 60fps (I'm not talking about 15 or 20fps, at 55fps it's impossible to play due to random teleports and stuttering)
Do not lunch on all my version of proton.
the game window open but it does not load to a menu or a game. it just show the game logo...
The game started in a window and downloaded the engine updates. However, the wont move past the welcome screen.
I tried the latest proton version (5.something) and also tried to use wine d3d like the other reports suggested but the game didnt work.

Pude instalar el juego y abrirlo, al entrar se descargaron algunas cosas pero nunca se abrió el cuadro para iniciar sesión.
Español: El problema del porque el juego queda en un bucle infinito y ni carga, es porque el juego no encuentra su propio directorio, lo solucione pasando el juego a otra partición y configurando Steam para que detecta el juego desde la otra partición y así si inicia el juego de forma perfecta.

I simply installed the game, I activated the default proton (4.2-9 currently) and started. After the update, just click play and it worked correctly
To run the game I had to force it to use version 3.16-9, and execute the following command in the terminal: sudo ln -s /home/$USER/.local/home/$USER.local

But the game searching for
/home/$USER.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/CreativeDestruction/
(this creates the infinite loop)
While the game starts at any given moment, a slash disappears in its directory variable "/user/.local" is turned to "/user.local")
this command line should works to "fix" that.
sudo ln -s /home/$USER/.local /home/$USER.local
it worked for me.
