No issues found although I have not tried multiplayer. The 8bitdo Neogeo controller worked perfectly for this game. It's the same KOF addictive gameplay as the rest but I would recommend the KOF98 Final Edition istead, unless revisting for the nostalgia. Not a proton issue but there is no practice mode..really???
Game will not boot after enabling Fullscreen setting. Delete ~options.bin file inside path_to_kof97/Data and verify the integrity of game files from the Steam client.
Game has to be played in Windowed mode at all times. This is not a problem if you use gamescope. I used Proton Experimental 7.0-20230201 Flatpak community build.

The game open with black screen and really bad sound

When playing the first time, the game runs at 960x540 windowed. You can set the resolution to 1280x800 fullscreen in the options, but doing so will cause the game to not launch anymore after quitting.
The game run well, but dont pause it because get freeze
The Game play well but, if push pause button, then the game get freeze and cannot stop or kill the process.
The game runs well, however the multiplayer is not functional, as it does not find games, nor links to servers, in general the game is fully playable.
