I actually help with the kickstarter for this game, so I am glad it works. A easy change to Proton 5.13-6 and it works like a charm.
- According to the other reviews you need MSCoreFonts. But I already had that installed due to needing full MSOffice compatbility (and enjoying Comic Sans LOL) so it just started.

Does have to be set to the earlier Proton version, as I tried a few of the latest ones, to no avail.
Text a little small, but no too bad.
Text is a little borked without MS fonts and the game closes shortly after launching on various Proton versions.
To get text to display correctly (it appears as non-serif and the first line of text is slightly cut off at the top) I installed MS corefonts using protontricks. The process was quite long and pretty messy. I installed protontricks from the Discover store, I then had to paste a line of code into the terminal to give it access to the SD card, then during the corefonts installation it would show an error message when installing every single font. The whole process took some 15-20 minutes.
The game seems to use only the Courier font, so perhaps installing just that would have been sufficient.
Text is tiny on the SD and, as explained above, the first line under the character's name in a text box is slightly cut off at the top. Installing corefonts with protontricks fixes the font display and there's an option in the game's settings to make the text larger.
The game is very touchy when it comes to the proton version and/or system and Steam version. It either won't start or will crash before showing the main menu or shortly after showing the main menu.
When I was on SD's Preview channel it would crash on new Proton versions and would only work with Proton 4.2-9. I now switched to SD Beta channel and suddenly it started crashing on 4.2-9 but it now runs fine on 8.0-2.
No idea why it's flagged as incompatible, works better than most games I've tried
Anything newer then Proton 6 only gave me a black screen (sound worked tho).
Proton 5.0 crashes before the game window opens.
Proton 5.11 could run the game but I had significant performance issues (~5 fps).
However, with Proton 4.11 the game worked straight out of the box.
The default installation also misses an font. You can fix that by installing the Windows core fonts using protontricks:
$ protontricks 687260 corefonts
I had to use Proton 4.11 in order to get the game running

The game wont run on proton 6.4-3, but runs perfectly on proton 5.13-6
Game works with Proton 5.13-6. To fix clipped text, install the Windows core fonts on your system.
Installed core Windows fonts on my system.
For Debian (and Ubuntu too I think), this meant installing the ttf-mscorefonts-installer
package.

Playable out of the box with minor performance issues
Tested on Proton 5.13 . Played for less than 15 minutes. I could start and play perfectly fine, but loading times were long, there was some stuttering and the framerate was a bit low (20-40 fps).

The game starts and runs well enough, but load times are slow, it stutters a little and the frame rate is lower than it should be (I got 20-40 FPS with my specs). I used Proton 5.13 .

Won't open the window.
Steam registers that the executable has been ran but the window won't show up and the game shows up closed.

Game crashes shortly after starting.
The game boots up but crashes before loading the first menu.

Audio sometimes didn't play
Crashes when Window was resized
Proton 5 didn't work, had to use Proton 4.2-9
Works out of the box, but sometimes crashes when you launch the game.
The game sometimes crashes when you start it. After a couple of attempts it starts working fine.
There were some inconveniences that can probably be fixed. Still playable without tweaks for me.
The audio is crackling and the font appears to be cut on top within dialogs (I felt like it improved a bit by setting text size to large).
It crashed once when starting the game. Otherwise it was fine, but I only played about half an hour.

Has worked well so far after adding "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" to launch options.

Well, as soon as it started, it seems to be fine, but before I could enter the main menu, it crashed two times; after that, it was fine, had some lags, but nothing terrible. Can't promise that there won't be more crashes, as it was already reported.

Starts fine without any tweaks. Occasionally crashes to desktop. Text display gets cut off on top. This can be fixed by installing fonts (Courier New + Wingdings (I think)) from Windows.

Runs without tweaks but persistent crashes during gameplay preventing progress. When using 'wined3d' game sits as "running" without any window, 'nod3d11' causes the game to exit instantly and with 'noesync' or 'forcelgadd' the game is playable but continues to crash regularly.

After disabling Esync, the game stops crashing (it crashed nearly immediately and reproducible before that) and seems to be playable fine. I only took a short peek (5-10 minutes) at it, so there might be some issues later on.

Launched without tweaks, crashed after new game (but worked the second time, had to restart steam), minor fps drops, seems to be fps locked @ 60
dind't continue testing after the point where the game was playable

The Steam client shows the game is running, but no game windows appears,

The game launch but is stucked on the loading screen
