With Proton Experimental bleeding edge the game is working without issues now. The videos are also rendered properly with correct brightness/gamma/color. With standard Proton the game is also playable, but the videos are not rendered correctly and look washed out.

Generally it works good, but thumbs down for crash after the attic. Have to pass this on windows or download save after crash
Cut scenes do not work without Proton-GE. With Proton-GE they are a little bit bright and have washed out colors, like not enough color contrast
It is unable to complete the game on linux. It always crashes after the attic. Fortunately with cloud save you can continue the game on windows. After some time returned to linux and finished the game successfully.

Using Proton-5.8-GE-1-MF works to fix cutscenes. BUT: Constantly crashing shortly after waking up in the TV room. Tested 5+ times.

Constant crash at specific part of the game. After returning from the attic and waking up in the TV room, the game will crash about 10 to 20 seconds later. Tested 5+ times with different settings - Always the same

after a cut-scene video has played, you have to press a button to continue
With standard Proton the videos just skip, with Proton-GE everything appears to work. Only remaining issue is that you have to press a button after cut-scenes, or otherwise the game does not proceed. So it is not a completely seamless experience, but should not stop anyone who wants to play the game.

Out of the box the cut-scenes are skipped, but otherwise game is playable. Installing Media Foundation fixes the cut-scenes, though there is still some audio crackling. Launch option "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%" fixed the audio. Rating this game only Silver though (even though it fixable to be perfect), because installing MF is beyond a simple tweak.

The new proton version seems to have fixed the aforementioned audio bugs. Runs well aside from shader caching.

The game boots up just fine but you need to apply the xact, xaudio2_7 winecfg patches otherwise the sound crackles and ticks constantly. Also, none of the video cut scenes play at all so you end up playing with practically no context as to what is happening story-wise, which ruins the game for me. Other than that it runs "OK", performance is a little underwhelming but acceptable.
Note for Steam Controller users: You might want to change the RS settings from "Joystick Move" to "Joystick Camera", I found this to be a more pleasant experience.

The audio has distortions and volume levels are wrong. Game is playable with okay performance and some occasional stuttering the first walk through an area.
