The game runs without any issue, performance is smooth.
It's worked fine for me with no tweaks needed.
Runs great on steam deck with no changes required.
Did not get a platinum experience as game lags quite a lot and graphics have a lower visual quality than on windows.
Game is significantly laggy when roaming around the open world, personally I don't think this is a smooth experience as others have stated.
Smooth experience with Proton 5.0, apart from those occasional crashes that were mostly covered by the game's autosave.

Upgrading to driver version 396.54 got it working though. The game crashes after choosing the "Exit Game" command from the title screen, but it doesn't seem to be detrimental in any way to the gameplay or basic functionality. Save games were still fine on the next boot up and everything works well. Played fine with a wired Xbox 360 controller.
