Works as native, no captcha, no crashes. The only problems I found were screen flickering when changing virtual desktops in kde, as well as an annoying notification that appears at the top left corner every time the game is hidden in the tray.

Couldnt get past char creation

Tried both Proton Experimental, GE9-25 and GE7-20. None of them really worked. Theyd all just start chugging along during character creaton to the point i couldnt even go into tty to close the game.

Closest I could get was if I used a steam account in certain versions of proton.
Also tried lutris install instructions listed elsewhere, and installing as non steam game and then running via compat data there.

Do not use the Lutris script; it is just linking to the Steam version!
- Download the official DFO client from the website.
- Create a new bottle with "Install a Windows game from an executable" and choose the client setup EXE file.
- Finish the setup, but do not start the game yet.
- Right-click on DFO in Lutris > Configure > Runner options > Change Wine version to "GE-Proton (Latest)."
- (Optional) System options > Uncheck "Disable Lutris Runtime."
- Save and run the game.
Window mode is buggy; just set the "Screen Resolution" to 'Window(Full)'.
DFO used to run only on Windows, but now we can play it on Linux. Just by looking at the Steam reviews, you can tell how risky it is to use the Steam version. I tried using Wine (with Winetricks), but there were always errors. So, I switched to GE-Proton (Latest), and it finally works!
Do not use 'Vsync' or 'Optimize FPS'; they can cause tearing! Just limit the FPS to your monitor's refresh rate.
I walked around the cities and tried some dungeons; everything works as expected.

Made to resemble the game's actual controller support, minus the trackpads which I used for items or other useful shortcuts.
Lowered TDP, it is pretty lightweight. May need to disable this setting when playing with parties
When playing in gaming mode, changing the window mode will result in the game's screen not being captured properly. Do NOT touch it. Changing resolution is otherwise okay.
The reported captcha spam for bots is seemingly gone as of now, which greatly hindered gaming experience. especially party play.
It's a Korean Beat em Up MMO ruled by the Chinese wallet warriors. If you don't mind solo play, playing this game can be a blast. PvP is heavily lacking thanks to P2P and global servers, as well as gear/level mattering. GIve it a try

You will be forcefully disconnected within 1-2 minutes. The most you can do is stay in one dungeon indefinitely.
Installed standalone client to copy "installed" registry files to Proton's compatdata folder.
Game did not detect the Steam Deck as it requires Xbox input, not Xbox 360 input.
As of May 30th, 2023, the state of the game on Deck is borderline borked. After a factory reset and installing DFO through client and Steam, I was only able to remain in the login screen and town area for a maximum of 2 minutes before being forcefully disconnected.
- This can be alleviated by entering the Training Room, which delays the forced disconnect until you return to town, allowing you to configure controls and test out attacks.
- Communicating through whisper and guild chat are possible through this method.
- Proton 8.0-3 was used for both installation and launching the game.
However, as of August 22nd, 2023, the state of the game remains borderline borked, but with an update to the use of controllers: Hotkeys, Auto-fire/Turbo, and Mapping are subject to an account ban.
- Neople states that it's recommended to use the official Gamepad input, but the inputs from the Steam Deck were not readable.

there is no problems. it only crashed once at that was in the character creation but besides that i had no problems whatsoever.
it only crashed 1 time

7 months ago the game would kick you after 10mins, now it seems that it just works. was able to play on my account on deck.
this might change in the future to unplayable again. but as it seems, it just works!
Only can stay at town, once enter dungeon or even training center will get captcha 3 times then disconnected.
Steam version doesn't work
The game runs and plays well, but its anticheat will consider you as a bot and does everything to stop you from playing. Even with a ban.
Accidentally switching to Windowed Mode can and will cause the game to freak out, requiring the game to be configured through Steam Deck's Desktop Mode.
Attempting to play as soon as the game shows the character selection screen will result in a forced disconnect.
- This can be worked around by waiting at least 3 minutes without any input.
Running any kind of dungeon (scenario or normal) builds up a hidden "bot score" common in MMORPGs. You're eventually forced to a captcha prompt at the start of every dungeon.
- This can be worked around by not playing for a day or two.
Continuing to play after the captcha prompts can result in a "trade-ban," in which your account can no longer buy, sell, or upgrade equipment.
- This ban remains until you send a support ticket, asking them to lift the ban.
As per Neople's "Terms and Conditions," Proton is considered a Third-Party Software, this means the anticheat will stop you from playing by any means. The community has also agreed to avoid the official Steam version of Dungeon Fighter, as new players through Steam have been targeted and banned by the anticheat.
DFO disconnects after 5-10 min
Will crash immediately in windowed mode
DFO will disconnect after 5-10 min with the message " You have been disconnected. Please check your network connection. "
DFO will disconnect after 5-10 min with "You have been disconnected. Please check your network connection. "
Steam version didn't work as the launcher said "Your account has been blocked by administration due to abnormal activity/illicit program"
CHANGING TO WINDOWED BREAKS THE GAME. DO NOT ATTEMPT.
Works out of the box without any problems
Downloaded the installer from the official website, made a new wineprefix in lutris and ran the installer inside it. Then, change the executable to NeopleLauncher.exe, everything works perfectly after that. Remember to use the wine version I used. I haven't tried any others.
The game run perfectly, no problem while playing, using proton ge 7-17
Was able to boot into main menu, the game crashed at random intervals after that.
Currently, I can't make this game work for my system. With any Proton version tried past 7.0-1 it boots into the main menu of the game, lets me control it for 10-30 seconds and then crashes immediately after.
On start game displays an error box saying "Registery (sic!) information does not exist. Please reinstall."
Have tried the registry editing fixes mentioned online (for a regular win installation) without success.

gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Setting to windowed breaks the game, you can't interact with anything after it launches, the only way to revert this is by deleting your configuration files.
Great experience out of the box, just don't try windowed.
Steam Play Proton 7.0-1
Works Out-Of-The-Box using Proton 7.0.1
Runs perfectly out of the bow with Proton 7.0-1.

I was able to get passed the low disk space error and the file verification, but it won't let me log into my account to start the game.
Using Proton 6.12-GE-1
Installs the launcher, but I get an error saying that I don't have enough disk space.
The launcher opens and downloads essential files, but afterwards, right after the "Analyzing" phase, it CTDs.

Refuses to recognize log-in through Wine browser.
