Followed what ChaseRaph39 said. I got the game working, but there were a few glitches. One of those was having to close the secondary window in order to bypass to the main menu.
Installed mf, quartz, lavfilters, wmp11 via protontricks. Go to the Trillion.ini and set fullscreen=0. All intros should load, the ActiveMovie window will also be focused full screen and function fine.

Game seems to startup and function without much issue. Videos and audio all occur perfectly.
Using Proton Hotfix, the game starts up and plays all the opening videos and audio without issue. Game itself has functioned without issue in my experience so far. Only problem is the opening videos require you to press the Steam button and close the active movie window, as well as possibly press buttons/tap the screen to skip them. Fairly minor issue however, and I am unsure if it is even unique to Linux. Would recommend.
By default if you attempt to launch this game on any Proton version you will get a black screen. When checking there are two windows open. One is titled "ActiveMovie Window" and the other "Trillion". Selecting either will not help with the black screen problem.
HOWEVER, I have found a proper fix for this and now the game runs on the latest version of Proton with no issues. This involves is editing Trillion's config file to set the display window to fullscreen instead of windowed.
In desktop mode you will need to navigate to
/home/.local/share/Steam/userdata/
In this folder you find another folder with 8 digits. In this case mine is
/home/.local/share/Steam/userdata/93999127/
Then you'll enter a folder titled "451780" (Trillion's appid) Find a folder named "remote" and inside will be a file titled "Trillion.ini".
/home/.local/share/Steam/userdata/93999127/451780/Trillion.ini
Open this file and edit "FullScreen = 0" to "FullScreen = 1" and save. Go back to game mode and launch Trillion. You may be prompted to choose between a local save vs cloud save. Make SURE you select local save. (You only need to do this one time.) Voilà! The game now works perfectly.
Also, to skip the intro cutscene hit the Steam button and select the Trillion window. It'll take you straight to the main menu.
It runs just like Windows except
The videos play on a tab at the fore ground and you can't skip them but i'd say it not a problem since the videos in this game are short.
Starts up on a black screen. Two windows are open, but neither responds to the escape key (steam+dpad left). Tried mashing that, tried waiting, nothing. Game's borked.
Black screen, double window appear.
Does not continue after appear the window.

Works fairly well, you just have to wait 2-3 minutes at a black screen during startup to get to the title screen.
During startup, the game sticks on a black screen for about 2-3 minutes while the opening cutscene plays, but it looks like it's just frozen on a black screen without having properly started the game at all.
Just wait it out though, maybe try pressing ESC or right click (or start/select on gamepad) to advance to the title screen more quickly, but I had to just wait the full 2-3 minutes. After that it will load the title screen and you'll be able to play normally as you would expect.

Cannot pass black screen.

Game runs well for all gameplay. The only issues are that none of the video cut-scenes work so I have to keep pressing Esc on the black screen at the start to get to the title screen. The controller support also works well.

Cutscenes not working

Cutscenes don't work, but I didn't run into any other issues. Gamepad worked fine for me.

cutscenes not work, gamepad no work only works with keyboard

Black window briefly appears, then closes. stdout says "[...] /gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64): ignored." . Game installed on NTFS partition.
