Main menu was making me nervous since it took its time before initializing, but did end up loading in.
The game runs out of the box without any tweaks. I have not seen any problems. Loaded save from Steam it all works with no problems.

Runs perfectly fine. No Issues at all.
Setting in game graphic settings to medium/high I set framerate in steam settings to 30fps (the game does not achieve 60fps, hovers around 45fps). Enabled Half rate shading. Set GPU clock frequency to 600 (game retains 30fps).
The game wants to install Battleeye, you need to use touch screen to navigate this setup (I rejected it as I do not play online, caused no problems). There is also an Unreal engine user agreement which also requires touch screen to accept.
Game is playable with some minor adjustments to in game graphic settings, you could get more performance by setting low/medium, I set medium/high as my preference. Experienced no crashing in my play time. Using the template I use for controls the only problem I had is with the toolbelt and not being able to select items that are not weapons, solvable by assigning those to other buttons.
Since the game is not fast paced, setting 30fps is fine, but of course if you want 60fps then further tweaking required. Using the Steam settings I suggested uses around 15-16 watts with a estimated 2-2.5 hours play time from full charge.
Battleeye can be refused install, game works fine without it, but it will prevent you going online if you choose to try.

My friend wanted me to get Subsistance so that I could play it with him, and i looked to see if it ran on Linux first. It had been a year since anyone had posted anything about this game, so I figured I'd give it a try to see how well it works with Proton in it's current state. It launched right away! I had no issues playing the game at all. The only issue that my friend and I ran into was more than likely on his end because he uses pocket WiFi and lives in Japan, and I in the U.S. I'd rank this game higher than the silver status that it has currently.
Tried playing with; Proton 4.11-13 Proton 5.13-6 Proton 6.3-2 Proton 6.5-GE-2 Always stuck on LOADING screen and then the game crash.

Played perfectly with Proton 5.13-4 in solo for 10hrs without a crash. No graphics glitches. Other than co-op crashes it plays great.
Changing the container to launch in Windowed mode via winecfg fixes this.
Game worked flawlessly in solo, but randomly crashed in co-op.
Runs without crashes to version 2.4-9, is just a bit slow (~ 20 - 30 fps).
Floating grass and a pair of white pixel errors.
Common crashes with all versions except Proton V. 4.2-9!

Mouse issue, unable to click anywhere in the menu
The game launches until the main menu, but then I cannot navigate either with keyboard or mouse.

Works if you're ok with minimal graphics settings
Setting any graphics settings above their minimum, barring the below settings which seemed to be fine as is, would result in either a hard or a soft crash. Hard crash - Loading screen hangs, forced to used Ctrl Alt Del to reboot entire system, Soft crash - End game via Steam launcher and restart game. These settings are fine as is, set everything else to minimum (or off): Resolution: 1920x1080 / Anti-aliasing: FXAA2 / Vsync: On / Windowed mode: Checked (unchecking actually enables windowed mode) / Max frame rate: 60

I had to force proton 4.11-13 to play.
Stuttering and lower than expected FPS vs Windows but still playable
It has stutters that make the game nearly unplayable, but with D9VK it runs almost perfectly with great performance but frequent crashes.
occasional stutters
when using D9VK it crashes frequently

I played it first on 4.11-2 smoothly then had problems starting the game on 4.11-3 and 4 but on 4.11-5 everything runs fine, as it was running on windows. Only glitch i encountered was a texture bug, where the rendering is white and can be seen from afar, but i don't think it is because of proton. Multiplayer was not testet, only single

Well, the problem with foliage/grass it's fixed with proton 4.11.1. Now the game runs great, it's totally playable but with low fps. i've tried to add PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% in steam launch parameters and the game runs so smooth , but it crashed without any error message all the time for me.

The game runs out of the box without any tweaks, but there is a problem with the grass/foliage. It goes up and down for the entire map. I think its the wind effect over the grass or something like that. I've tried using "disable Esync", "D3d11" use "Wine D3d11" and nothing fix this problem.

Shows as "Running" in steam library but does not launch.
