New Logitech Wheel driver: lg4ff also: +fullproc in launch settings in Steam
Install with proton 6.3-7 add the +fullproc in Steam in Launch settings, and visit berarmas' github for the lg4ff new Logitech driver. Clone the repo, enter the directory. Build and install the module (manual instructions). Load the driver and in-game force feedback works now as well.
Visit the games Community Hub for Krald's setup tutorial for the steering, and you should be good to go.
I used Protontricks to start regedit and create the key Direct3D in HKCU\Software\Wine\ with the dummy Dword value csmt as mentioned.
Texture flickering of menu elements.
Unknown(< 1 hour with Proton)You need to disable csmt to get good performance. You can do it via winetricks either through winecfg or regedit. I had to use regedit: HKCU\Software\Wine\Direct3D (had to create the Driect3D key), add a DWORD value named csmt, make sure the value is set to 0. Performance like native, didn't test multiplayer or various controllers.

Extremely slooooooow! Glitchy menu! All tweaks makes no difference.
UnknownNo matter which DX version you choose in the config (DX7.8.9), 16-bit or 32-bit color, windowed or fullscreen - the framerate just crawls, as if you are trying to run GTAV on a 386 16MHz DOS 5.0 CPU PC. Config.ini available, yet made no difference. Also, not running in non-Proton, reg WINE (on my hardware).
UnknownUnknownBy setting shader on auto and maximum resolution (1080p) the game runs but extremely slow, does not properly display menu entries - probably because of it.
More importantly, the readout for system memory and GPU is not correct - too little RAM, too little VRAM. The game apparently under-utilizes system resources and therefore runs extremely slow.
