taskset -c 0 %command%
Game will only succesfully launch about 20% of the time. Must relaunch until success.

Lowered settings
In a previous report I made, the game would sometimes hang and only sometimes launch when you press play. As of the past week or so, it's been reliably starting every time. This is the same between PC and Steam Deck OLED.

On normal Proton, the game is quite literally a roulette; either it runs or says "Running" but does not launch

UMU_ID=0 %command%
Using the command UMU_ID=0 with GE-Proton makes the game lauch consistently. I originally played with older proton8-10 which launched consistanlty but would not play cutscenes

Use GE-Proton and the UMU_ID=0 launch option so that the game launches everytime you click play. Without those it will be a 50/50 to launch.

Any GE-Proton version higher than 9-25 (as well as proton experimental) will have bad artifacting at the time of writing. If you really want to use a higher version and you get artifacting then add PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
to your launch options before %command%
. It's a lot less performance but a lot less issues.

Sometimes the game doesn't launch and you have to relaunch it. Use the command and a GE proton if you don't want to deal with that. Game plays out of box otherwise.

Previously playing this game(Darkwinter version) on Lutris with default Wine GE 8.26. I made the switch to the Steam version with UMU Proton from Nobara Linux 41 working out of the box.

Without launch option you'll have to roll the play button like the ingame gacha before you get a successful start. With latest Proton-GE and launch options set you'll get it first try. Everything works, except for very minor graphical artifacts

Requires a few tries to launch, but runs perfectly after that
Takes a few attempts to launch

Window does not open at all
Clicking play launches game, and is listed as being played, but game window does not appear.

Videos don't work, they show up as black screens
Had to switch to older version, on newer versions steam would say it launched but nothing happens

Game sometimes freezes on launch and needs to be restarted a couple of times before it launches.
Outside of the launching issue the game is perfectly playable. With future updates to Proton it should work flawlessly.

It plays fine but getting the window to appear is a pain
Takes a few tries for the window to appear

Sometimes plays
Sometimes does not launch. Sometimes launches on the first try, often it takes a few tries, and worst case it takes several tries. Same with on the Steam Deck.

Does not run at heavy graphical settings.
Requires Proton GE, else crashes. I used 9-25

All things default. Base copy installed from Steam.

If switching to 8.0-5 doesnt work try to install Vcrun2022 with protontricks
Can't make an in-game purchase.
Does not start on experimental or GE

Steam will say game is running, but the window will never appear and no audio will play. All you can do it force exit the game using steam or a terminal. Then try to relaunch the game and hope the window appears.
If you can get the game to open properly everything works just fine. it's just that the game doesn't like to open properly 19/20 times. Will change to recommend once this issue is resolved.

Halfway through specific stages (I noticed this on the canal/dam stage and some supply mission stages) the game will drop to around <10 fps. Sometimes the whole game slows down and I need to restart and sometimes exiting the stage fixes it. For the dam stage rotate the camera to face away from the dam/pipes to fix the issue.
Played many hours using lutris before the game launched on steam and I had heavy artifacting and stuttering with videos but that's not an issue using steam and proton experimental. You keep your progress if you login with the same account if you played the game prior to steam release ONLY IF THE PUBLISHER IN YOUR STEAM REGION IS THE SAME AS THE PUBLISHER YOU USED BEFORE!. There are two publishers: HAOPLAY and Darkwinter. Currently you cannot migrate your account from one to the other nor can you friend or interact with anyone else using a different publisher as yours.

Sometimes, the game launches by chance. Most of the time, it is stuck at Running...
UMU_RUNTIME_UPDATE=0
The game may able to launch if you press play, wait for a while and if it doesn't launch in 10s, stop and click play again. Launching through Steam is inconsistent right now. Lutris with same GE Proton version works. Stick to Lutris/Bottles for now.

The Steam version works perfectly fine
my only issue is I need to restart my machine to reopen the game; I tried exiting Steam but it won't reopen

Lutris-GE-Proton8-26-x86_64
Empty text boxes on login screen
Installing the game and playing works through Lutris but I am unable to get it to launch via adding non-steam game to library.
Download the windows launcher from Girls Frontline 2 website and add it to Lutris as a windows game from an executable. proceed to run it and install the game through the launcher. Default Wine runner is fine for this.
After installation is complete add the GF2_Exilium.exe as a locally installed game. The login screen will be missing elements but is still functioning. You can accept the non-loading tos and enter login info fine, it will just display the fields empty. You will also need to click on the fields you want to fill, tabbing will not work. Default Wine runner will run the game but more slowly and with some graphical issues like ghosting. Switching runner option to Lutris-GE-Proton8-26-x86_64 gets rid of the graphical issues and runs overall smoother. No other tweeks were required.

Minor artifacting and framerate issues in pre-rendered cutscenes
Game doesn't exit properly, must be force-terminated from terminal
Text on login screen is missing, but easy enough to navigate without it

Playing the Darkwinter version using a vanilla Bottles install. Changed the runner to GE-Proton9-20 and everything works great.
I could not get GFL2 to run succesfullly by adding to Steam as a non-Steam game. Depending on which version of Proton you force it will either not launch at all or will crash after the logo screen. Bottles (or Lutris) seem to be necessary here.

runs perfectly in bottles on highest settings, haven't noticed any problems with proton. i had some problems with a different runner and it didn't run nearly as good.
