Videos are not played, installing icodecs does not help.
Played with Proton 8.0-2 and setting virtual desktop to 1024x768 (or get black screen)

With parameter PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% performance is slightly better, on Proton-7.1-GE-2 with WINED3D video works. It is necessary to enable in winecfg "Emulate desktop" with a resolution of 1024x768, without this will be a black screen. Black screen
On startup, the logo is displayed for a second. Then just a black screen with the sound of the game in the background.

The game does work but a couple of workarounds are needed:
- Install Indeo codecs with "protontricks 289360 icodecs" OR rename/remove the "video" directory and just watch the videos with an external video player.
- In winecfg (protontricks 289360 winecfg) go to the Graphics tab and turn on "emulate a virtual desktop".
- Before running the game, set your desktop resolution to 1024x768. (or do it via xrandr in the Steam launch options). Once you've correctly done all these actions the game will run, though with a minor slowdown.
I was using the Russian version in my experiments, but the steps should apply to the English version as well.
starts into black screen, have to be terminated manually. same game from gog works with wine 4x 64bit installation. if it's the same game version you might need to tweak Proton prefix to make steam version work
