NBA 2k25 is playable at around 45-55 FPS using the Steam Deck preset, or 60FPS locked if everything is set to low.
The game runs fine on the Steam Deck preset at around 45-55 FPS. Since the game is heavily CPU dependent I would suggest limiting the GPU to 1200 Mhz to add more power to the CPU, it gave me noticeable boost in performane. Already been playing this for 170 hrs and I never really had a problem with it aside from the huge updates and at time broken anti cheat at first update.

Occaisional crackling when window is tabbed into/out of
Slow in MyCareer hub world, not sure if Linux related or just poorly optimized

Uso Proton 9.0-4.

Tried various Proton version since september, I was blocked by anti-cheat, waited and tried others versions.
Impossible to play. Super sad.
Ne se lance pas.

Unfortunately i'm here to confirm what most of the others experience as well. Frequent freezes in the middle of the game, with the sound carrying on.. Various Proton versions were tried as well, even with different linux kernels.. I find myself saving constantly myEra season even in the middle of the game, not knowing when the next freeze gonna hit me..

Game loading videos sometimes dropped frames and the sound cut out
The game starts. But after some time it freezes. At random times. Sometimes during gameplay, sometimes in the menu. Sometimes after two matches played, sometimes immediately. Various PROTON versions tested.

Use Proton Hotfix. Game works online, post EAC update. Works as it's supposed to, but game needs to build shaders first.

Game will boot but then crash when playing the game. Shader compilation through steam also took around half an hour. Issue persists with and without RT

Game stuck on start screen.
gamemoderun %command%
The game starts, but gets stuck on the start screen. I've tried proton experimental, GE proton9-20 and proton 9.0-3 (all older stable versions don't start at all). I also tried an older Nvidia driver (560.35.03), but that didn't work either.
Denuvo Anti-Tamper isn't helpful at the moment either, because you can only activate 5 devices per 24 hours. However, each Proton version is seen as a new device, so if you change Proton versions 5 times, the game is blocked for 24 hours.
I'll keep trying.
Works fully, but perfomance obviously isn't quite on par with windows

Game freezes after between 10 and 30 minutes. Seems like Nvidia specific issue :(. Tried different versions of proton. The logs don't show anything too interesting, unfortuantelly.
Each update has "stability improvements" in the changelog, but still this hasn't been fixed.
I can launch the game, run it, play a match but the game will freeze and crash about 5min in.

Was impossible for me to play. Could load into the game but give it a minute and it crashes.
Mouse goes off screen.
FPS Drops frequently
Unplayable.
Crashes every time.

denuvo blocked my game on proton 1 week later i installed on, i can't play now anymore
keep out of that game if you are a proton user....

just like windows 11 but with better loading times and gpu memory management
Crashes 5 minutes into the game

Works great so far on the deck. The ideal way to play the next gen version of this game handheld.
Some text in menus and mycareer was small and hard to read but not completely illegible
Just used proton experimental as a default, no tinkering was really required on my end. Just turn off the resolution scaling in video settings as it's turned on by default and looks pretty bad. Game runs fine with it off. Some menu text can be hard to read or blurry but it isn't illegible. This is the ideal way to play this game next gen handheld compared to the poor legacy switch port.

Only used Proton Experimental, didn't bother trying anything else as it was perfectly functional. I only play single-player modes so I didn't try much online, but it was able to connect fine. I'd imagine it all works. My only issue was shaders taking a good amount of time to load before getting into the game, as well as stuttering in cutscenes/when you're not playing on the court. From what I've seen, this is also somewhat prevalent on Windows currently. Overall, it's perfectly functional on Linux, there are even settings labeled for the steam deck in the game options; so I imagine it works fine there as well.

The game can randomly crash whether in the menu or in the middle of a game.
The game itself still needs some more patches. On linux, the game hangs randomly, audio still plays on normally, then it crashes. The crashes still happen on Windows but less frequently; so unfortunately for now that is how I am playing the game.
Also, I only play offline, I don't touch online modes.

Recommend not using any upscaling whatsoever, to lessen the blurriness of the game.
Ditto on the upscaling.

Works out of the box
crashes out of nowhere

Unplayable. Crashes frequently.
Crashes almost all the time after 5-10 min of gameplay. Running on Pop OS
