Latest Experimental proton fixes frame pacing issues, set it to Experimental for the time being, otherwise game runs smoothly for the most part. Played through 3 stages with no issues.
Using current Proton (7.0-2), there are lag spikes every few seconds, similar to Windows behavior. On Proton 6.3-8 performance is smooth.

Was too slow to play until I switched to an older version of proton. I am tempted to see if I can get more performance out of these commands but after switching it is so smooth I may not even bother. (Here are my usual launch options which I didn't use this time: gamemoderun PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV %command% I installed gamemode with the command sudo apt install gamemode and I check it is running with the command gamemoded -s Plus obviously only use the AMD command if you have an AMD graphics card)
Works perfectly out of the box
Played 3 levels with no issues
Black screen, wined3d and d9vk were both tested and both result in a black screen

Lot of input lags : the game becomes very difficult and frustrating.
I honestly didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. It immediately ran and showed no lags or (noticeable?) slowdowns whatsoever. Gamepad is also found and applied correctly. Played on proton 3.7.8.
