Using the flatpack version of protontricks
flatpak override --user --filesystem=/run/media/mmcblk0p1 com.github.Matoking.protontricks
flatpak run com.github.Matoking.protontricks 266210 -q directmusic dsdmo gmdls
flatpak run com.github.Matoking.protontricks 266210 sound=alsa
flatpak run com.github.Matoking.protontricks 266210 -q corefonts
crackling is at startup is also experienced on linux PC
Audio and some font issues with stock install. easily fixed with protontricks. As of July 28th (OWH+ v1.48), protontricks no longer requires an outdated version of proton (5-10) to have the BGM playing in game.
Near fully functional within Steam Deck without Tinkering. Audio works, but in game music does not.
Launch Window and some in game fonts are a bit small, but relatively legible
Main Menu music is available, but no music in game.
Current Proton version (v7.0 as of this writing) and Proton Experimental launches game, but with the following issues:
- Doesn't play some game audio (overworld MIDI soundtracks)
- Some special text characters aren't displayed correctly (shown as rectangles)
- game process (Game_plus.exe) doesn't terminate after quitting
Issues fixed using an older Proton version, installing the following Windows components and Proton configuration:
protontricks 266210 -q directmusic dsdmo gmdls
(components fail to install on newer Proton versions, "permission denied")protontricks 266210 sound=alsa
protontricks 266210 -q corefonts
Only starting menu music plays -- in-game MIDI soundtracks missing. Fixed by installing Windows DLL/components and configuring through protontricks, refer to above protontricks section
(Minor issue) When game is in Fullscreen, switching to another window auto-minimizes the game window
(*Note: most testing was done using the One Way Heroics Plus version of the game)
With most of the game being silent, it would be quite a boring experience unless you're multitasking to something else.
Mouse / Touch screen needed to launch the game
The title screen music works, but not the music during most of the gameplay.
Works great
Mouse input is required to launch the game
Only keyboard mapping is displayed, but the controller works
Have to fuss with the input to be able to get into the game and reconfigure key mappings in settings.
Have to use mouse input to launch the game
Doesn't detect gamepad. Have to use WASD + Mouse input once on title screen.
Use the mouse input to get past the launcher, then you need to use WASD + mouse to play. The "A" button will confirm on the title screen, but can't be used as a button map in the control settings.
See comment below
Music missing but other sounds are playing fine (fixed via protontricks)
Some characters were replaced by rectangles (missing font) (fixed via protontricks)
Important: Use Proton < 5.13 (ie. 5.0-10), because otherwise the protontricks command to fix the missing audio will fail!
Reason: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/commit/0e34540c662cdc76ba2f8b5bdf5cc2ed25491a30.
This commit makes wine libraries read only so protontricks can't overwrite those files... hence you will have some "permissions denied errors".
To fix the missing audio as well as the improper exit, as others said before:
protontricks 266210 -q directmusic dsdmo gmdls
protontricks 266210 sound=alsaTo fix some characters that are displayed as rectangles:
protontricks 266210 corefonts
I used commands listed here but still got the missing midi songs and the freezing on exiting the game.
used protontricks commands listed here
midi songs are missing
freeze on exiting game
I had to select proton 5.0-10 because newest version did not started the game properly
Playable without protontricks. Greatly improved with it. Only remaining issue seems to be one instance of garbled text.
As cited earlier (thank you Unknown!), running the game once, killing it, then running "protontricks 266210 -q directmusic dsdmo gmdls" and "protontricks 266210 sound=alsa" in a terminal should both fix the MIDI music and make it close properly on exit.
Some of the music tracks are MIDI (such as all of the field themes) and won't play without protontricks.
When saving a replay, the filename text is totally borked, but it'll still work fine and is legible when you load it.
Plays flawlessly with no issues found in-game, but doesn't exit properly after quitting. Running pkill -9 -f '[Oo]ne [Ww]ay [Hh]eroics'
after quitting will allow the processes to terminate, at least with the processes found on my machine. If you're using Steam cloud saves, it'll allow Steam to sync properly.
Process must be killed after quitting
Install the game, run once. Go to your process monitor and KILL Game_plus.exe process. Open a terminal run "protontricks 266210 -q directmusic dsdmo gmdls" and then "protontricks 266210 sound=alsa". If you didn't kill Game_plus it will give an error regarding ProgramFiles returning null string. After all this, the game should launch with dxvk (totally unnecessary) and run BGM in all maps. It will also close properly when closing the window (alt+f4). More extensive gameplay is necessary to see if any bad sideeffects occur on the way.
The game needs the files "gm16.dls" and "gm.dls", these must go in "steamapps/compatdata/266210/pfx/drive_c/windows/syswow64/drivers".
You also need to install "directmusic" and "dsdmo" via winetricks/protontricks. If the game fails to start (blackscreen), set "sound=alsa" as well.
This also fixes the dead process on exit, the game now closes gracefully.
- Without doing these steps, you might experience the same problems as in the rest of the reports.
Does not close properly and music does not work in game. Everything else seems fine.
The process doesn't close itself after exit.
Works just fine
Played several hours without any issues. Also ran on an older Intel system with HD4870 GPU flawlessly.
Does not get past GUI launch/configuration program. Errors "Failed to start-up. Game.exe may already be running...." Steam log shows many "eventfd: Too many open files" errors.
Edit: Playable, but 'kill -9' on game_plus.exe required to close steam
No Issues in a few minutes of play
Music during gameplay doesn't work, executable must be manually killed in both normal and plus versions after game exit. Tested data transfer to plus version and a complete playthrough, no other issues.
Nags about missing .dll files then proceeds to not start.
MIDI tracks do not play. After exiting the game it requires the process to be terminated manually.
