vc 2022 i instaled on heroic with game, game are opening and after couple secpnd crash unreal engine 4

You need to install vc++ 2015 and above
not that hard to setup fun to play

Got Game as free game from EGS. Tinkered quite a bit until I found the following working for me:
In Epic-Launcher /[Redacted] /Settings /WINE:
- Wine - Wine-GE-Proton8-26 The following options checked:
- Auto-install /Update DXVK-NVAPI on Prefix
- Auto-install /Update VKD3D on Prefix
- Enable Esync
- Enable Fsync
Added to Steam:
- On Steam no compatibility settings needed, just launch and enjoy

Install vcrun2025 DLL for C++.
Level loading was a bit too slow, but running on HDD, so maybe it is expected.
C++ is mandatory and game does not prompt for install itself. Protontricks or Winetricks required.

After installing the game on the deck via Heroic, in the “Advanced” settings for the game, I set an alternative EXE to run. The EXE is located under: <game directory>/Redacted/Binaries/Win64
, and the EXE is called Redacted-Win64-Shipping.exe
. Running this executable bypasses an error you may get about missing Visual C++ Modules.
Only on first launch in desktop mode, after launching from Gaming Mode controllers detected by default.
With a minor tweak, the EGS version via Heroic works fantastically well.

not working when used via Heroic launcher as far as i can tell.

Had to run in desktop mode, and accept EPIC pop up Proton 9.0 Beta

So, first of all, it's made in the Unreal Engine ... Second, the game has a high-speed DRM third, if you disable swap, memory overflow
%gamemoderun% gamemoderun PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
heroic applies some winetricks by default during the install of the game so unknown
memory overflow or performance issues will cause stuttering and/or crashes
this game is a performance nightmare... it has no memory overflow protection and requires high-speed DRM unless the frequent hard shutdowns damaged proton itself
again, no memory overflow protection and if you can't meet the speed requirements of the DRM, the game won't even launch unless it somehow fried proton itself...
So, first of all, it's made in the Unreal Engine ... Second, the game has a high-speed DRM third, if you disable swap like I do, there is no memory overflow protection in this game and it can trigger an immediate full system freeze.
I had to set the game to proton EXPERIMENTAL to even get it to stop crashing during its rendering process. You then have to confirm that you own the game and agree to TOS to even start playing, which they somehow managed to bake into the game engine itself instead of during the launch process... (I had already reached the main menu and was only attempting to open settings)
Game didn't launch on Wine.

vcrun2022 installation was needed
turn off AA, shadows, bloom, fps limit to 60
epic aajthorization was needed
im fairly new with steam deck and linux so didnt try tinmering. went to heroic discor and got help to install the vcrun2022 and now works great. wish i could delete my old report because now is all good!

using geproton, worked

as the title says, trying to run on epic through heroic on steam deck. unable

Wine-GE-Latest
Worked out of the box. Didn't try Proton, only Wine-GE-Latest.

Works fine with GE-Proton9-16, FSync and Mangohud both enabled in Heroic launcher. VSync enabled
Works fine with GE-Proton9-16, FSync and Mangohud both enabled in Heroic launcher. VSync enabled in the game itself. Had to run vcredist2015_2017_2019_2022_x64.exe on prefix in Heroic Launcher and had to downgrade from GE-Proton9-22 to GE-Proton9-16 in Heroic to get game working. GE-Proton9-22 did not work.

Not a Linux issue but a game issue. The developers have fixed some of these crashing bugs already and I assume they will continue to do so in future updates. The game saves every room though so progress is rarely lost due to crashes but it is something to be aware of.
